I hope new songs will be played in Chicago

I would hate to "miss the boat" on the new songs. That is, I would hate it if it was just two shows, then they release the album, then the new songs are played on the "regular" tour.

I hope they do, for both Toronto and Chicago! But I have serious doubts for them to do it. I remember their 2005 Canadian tour and if my memory's good, they didn't play a single "new" song. I think it was only their show in Atlantic City or Philly where they played a new song; Gone.

Why wouldn't they? It's a tour to support their new album.

Sorry dude, but nothing in that matter was mentioned! They could basically play everything from their past albums and bsides.

Besides every interview that has said when the album is coming out.

You really think they're gonna do this tour, turn around next year(when Ed said they're not touring) and do a full album supporting tour, then again in 2011 another huge tour for their 20th anniversary, in this economy?

There are still quite a few shows to announce.

The fact that there isn't a release date doesn't really matter, these days and the boys have expressed interest in using the internet for release, in the past.

I'm hoping they do play a few songs from the new album.

Just going back to those old school day's; listening to those Brixton '93 tapes, Pearl Jam playing tons of new songs nobody has heard off .. from the forth coming record that would could out many months later, October it was!

    It will happen! :)

It could totally happen!!! I'll give you a lame example: No Doubt! They haven't released anything in years but tickets are selling like crazy. Actually, the "show" business seem to do pretty good if you look at the figures and the several articles written about the subject. And like I mentionned before, the band did it in the past, why not again? They played in 2007, they toured in 2008... any new songs??? Nope!

Also, if you could give the link where Eddie says they won't tour next year? I honestly haven't heard about it (it would be a bummer if it was the case!).

They used to road test songs all the time ... don't think they've done that since No Code, though.

I dont know - I think a large majority of the interviews have mentioned September for a release month, but obviously they could push it up to early August just as easily although they would have to announce it really soon.

If they do not release the album yet I highly doubt they play more than one or two songs just because the last few albums they have made a point of not playing new stuff early.

I wouldnt mind hearing a few new songs though... of course I also wouldnt mind not hearing any yet and getting some older stuff they havent done so much lately.

but that was back before the "official" boot days. I wonder if they'll play something new if they have official boots for this mini-tour.

I can only think of two songs that they did: Gone and Comatose (which I think was called at the time Crapshoot... something, during a benefit show I think in Seattle). Don't they did anything before Yield, Binaural or Riot Act.

    Good point. Forgot about Gone.

We had heard Brain of J before Yield came out, but that was just because it was an old song. We didn't hear it on the No Code tour, for instance.

You just made me think of something... maybe the reason they haven't been road testing them is because of the official boots being available right after the shows... wouldn't the record labels have an issue with this, as it would technically be the band releasing new tracks (almost like a leak) before the actual album is released? If this is the reason (just a theory), then they could potentially do "road testing" again, as they're without a label, and thus can do what they want with their tracks without limits.

well, they have already played europe back in '07 right? no new songs were played. no new album has been released since then. 2 year's later, they are going back there and are playing again, just a few show's. i have a feeling, new songs will be played this time around.

plus, with so much info, so much articles, so much facts; that the band has a new album coming, materal is complete, so much goodies in store for their fans; when touring in the summer, they know they are itching to get some of that studio work out & play live to the fans. all bands have that itch. ;)

This is just dreaming, but how cool would it be if they haven't recorded anything yet, only written songs and the short Euro-Chicago leg is for the actual recording of the album?

I WISH!!! But last I heard, I think that Brendan O'Brien was in the studio mixing and adding the final touch to the new songs...

there were a few yield songs (given to fly, wishlist, dte, brain of j) at the shows opening for the stones in 1997 (as well as the "honking seals" warmup). brain of j was played even before no code came out in late 95.

nothing as it seems and thin air were played at bridge 99, but other than that they kept those songs a "secret" until the album. grievance was played on letterman before it came out i think too.

The uke version of cant keep was played well before riot act came out. I am mine was debuted at bridge in 01 (i think?). a few songs (lbc and green disease) were played opening for the who in 02 (which was coicidently the same day riot act leaked, for me anyway)

"crapshoot" or "crapshoot rapture" was played a couple times in early 05, and gone at atl city.

there might be more, thats all i can think of over recent years

    ^^That sounds about right.

I think NAIS and Thin Air posted on fivehorizons were my first taste of PJ bootlegs. The first sign of this running addiction.

And then 2000 with the release of Binaural the whole album was nearly played on May 10, album came out May 16.

Then again there was a release date and they were doing a full tour in support of the album. Looking forward to whatever they play, just hoping they head out West so that I can see them again, it's been a while.

Yeah, but those canadian shows were a full year before the release of the Avocado album. Besdies, the Canadian tour was the defacto Lost Dogs tour. :)

If they were to release the album a WEEK AFTER the Chicago shows, why wouldnt they play songs off that album? It would be weird, though, because nobody will have heard them yet.

This is why I think that album will be out sooner. July or Early August.

the fact that Ed said no touring "next year" in an interview this year

Could you provide at least one link? I'm not doubting ... I'd just like to see. Also, I think Ed was just talking out of his ass about no tour in 2010, as he is prone to do. Wouldn't read too much into that. I think it's too early to tell what the hell they're going to do next year.

I hope this album drops before the Chicago shows. I would really like to hear 7-8 new songs.
