Advice on buying PJ tickets.

Hey PJ nation. Can anyone give me a bit of advice on buying tickets on stubhub or ticketmaster.

I´m not planning on going to chicago or toronto this year. Hopefuly, there will be a larger tour later this year. I don´t care where in the usa, but I´ll be there. I don´t live in the usa, but i hope to catch at least one ticket through TC to get a chance of a decent seat. After that if everything goes as planned, at least i want to attend 4 shows or 5....

For the chicago shows, through ticketmaster, the best seats i could find today where the upper levels for 66 dollars. When the time to decide comes in the future i would like to be sure this is all i can get through TM.

The other site Stubhub is crazy right now. The prices are too high. I could travel to the usa 3 times and still spend less on the plane tickets!

If I were to wait until say 3 days before the shows and buy them on stubhub or TM, will there be a chance of getting better seats and cheaper? I´ll be watching the prices for these coming shows and see how it fluctuates these coming months as it gets closer to the show. I have no idea what to do right now if it were these shows i wanted to attend.

Please give me a bit of good advice, a huge fan will appreciate it for all eternity!

I bet there are other fans outside the usa that would thank you too!

I was under the impression that if you were not in the 10C you couldn't post but then I realized that wasn't the case, my husband's membership lapsed and it was inactive for like a month and he was still able to post even though his profile said he was not a member, though now he is active...

I wonder how that really works..

ok....it looks as if you are going to use 10club for a ticket.....

as far as ticketmaster goes???? or stubhub???

once the initial frenzy to buy tickets .....slows down....

i think you should be able to get cheaper tickets when it comes closer to showtime.....

    meaning....

a week or 2 before the shows you should be able to get tickets at a cheaper price....

and i am pretty sure ticketmaster will also release more tickets a week or 2 before the shows.......

Couldn't a 10C only show only happen in a non-Ticketmaster venue, and if so, which venues in Toronto fall under that category? Any?

Ticketmaster has bought them all! We all know they have taken over the ticket business. But that won't stop them. What does all man want? More power. Next we will see our local theatres, Cineplex, Empire Theatres run by Ticketmaster. Nobody is doing anything about it. So there's no point in fighting over it, cause the little man will alway's lose against the powerful ones.

I´m feeling .. i don´t know how. I have never bought tickets to any show of any kind in the us. I just don´t want to miss out on PJ. If I´m very lucky, maybe I will get to purchase more than one ticket on the TC, who knows.

I´m not freaking out right now because i´m not going to these coming shows. But i got a feeling there will be more shows in september and october or after the new album is released. If they only announce a couple of shows for then, then i´m not going. I´m traveling from a little far, and if i travel i want to see more than a handul of PJ shows. So i´m really hoping for a tour of more than a dozen shows in the east or the west or the center usa.

many people have complained here that they couldn´t purchase a tic on TC. I don´t consider myself lucky regarding lotteries! So if i don´t get a TC tic, i´m getting them somewhere else.

If TM releases more tic´s , are they often better seats than the ones they are offering now?

There's a thing called Ticket Exchange on Ticketmaster. http://www.ticketmaster.ca/ticketexchange

TicketExchange is Ticketmaster's new online service that enables the safe and secure fan to fan resale of live-entertainment tickets.

If you bought tickets through Ticketmaster and are unable to use some or all of them, TicketExchange offers the opportunity to resell them. If they sell, the proceeds are deposited directly to your bank account.

Fans are able to buy tickets for popular and sold out events with the confidence that the tickets are legitimate because TicketExchange cancels the old barcode and issues a new one once a purchase is made.

*Please note that not all events are enabled.

I am not sure if these work for the Pearl Jam show's! Check it out if you like.
But I'll tell you. If you're in the 10club & your account is all updated, don't worry about a thing.
    You're in good hands.

Disclaimer: n00b. apologies in advance for crashing in. i've lurked for a while, but have not yet been active.

Anyway, thanks for this info. Althought I got a TC membership several weeks ago I did not get a pre-sale email for the Toronto show (thinking this is because I have a US membership?).
I live in Pittsburgh, so Toronto is only a 5 hour drive from me. Also we were already planning to be there on our honeymoon the week of the show (and what an awesome honeymoon event that would be)!! Needless to say I was heartbroken to get shut out on Ticketmaster.

And now I have been frantically searching for tix and have had no idea what was the best route: stub hub, ebay, ticketsnow (ick), etc. I need help.

So, is the general consensus that stub hub, tickets now, etc will go down in price as the event date nears. I am all for paying $104 for lawn seats right now. Somehow my husband thinks this is crazy (but what does HE know).

All additional advice is GREATLY appreciated, even though I am a lowly newbie.

It seems to me that, generally, tickets go down in prices closer to the event date. The truth is, your best bet may be going to the venue on the night of the show. First of all, Molson Amphitheatre has been known to release more tickets only available at the box office on the day/night of the show. Second, the scalpers you see at shows that have TONS of tickets usually work for the online scalping businesses, and the fact that they're there means that there are tickets which the scalping companies have not been able to move. This means, theoretically, they'll be more desperate to sell. This is all based on my observations, however, and may or may not be accurate. If other people could chime in and help, that would be great.

    work all the angles
craigslist (but never buy email tickets)
TM-they usually release good seats prior to a show, but not always and you need to be on top of your game to score them
scalpers-stub hub, razor gator, tickets now are reputable companies despite the prices
tickets will be cheaper as the show date nears-especially if they announce more dates

and of course you might be able to find a 10c member who has an extra on one of the message boards
be vigilant and you will find what you are looking for

I work as a stagehand in Pittsburgh, and I know for sure that they release tickets anywhere from two weeks before the show, but ESPECIALLY THE DAY BEFORE THE SHOW!!! Each venus is different, so in terms of production (lighting, backdrop, band gear, etc.), entire rows and sections are blocked off pending on the size of the venue.

After the PJ crew and local crew sets everything up, higher ups in the arena go and look at the stage from various sections and rows that they pressumed would be obstructed because of production. They then put those tickets up for sale.

I'd say on the day of the show you should look at Ticketmaster, starting at 10:00 a.m.

I had 10 club ticktes last summer in DC and, being the knowledgable person I am, bought a better pair at the box office. My 10C tix were about 33 rows back on the floor, Mike's side. My box office tix were the first row in front of the soundboard on the floor. They consider soundboard part of production because they never know how much space is needed in comparison to the venue. Needless to say my seats were better (you want to be right in front of the soundboard because that's where "perfect sound" is generated).

    thanks for the advice guys...
I too am looking for tickets to the Toronto show and have had no luck.
I joined the 10C in hopes there will be a second T.O. show. I've been lurking on craigslist and ebay and the prices are crazy. I even check ticketmaster everyday. There are a lot of us fans who got screwed by Ticketmaster and we are all in the same boat. All we can do is be patient...

You're best bet is to watch ticketmaster in the days before the event. As someone above mentioned, venues hold certain tickets back until they're sure that they can be used based on the bands set-up (called production kills). Usually these are around the soundboard and the sides of the stage.
These seats can often end up being very good.

Scalping prices go up usually in the days leading up to an event, but start to drop dramatically as the event is underway. If you're gonna be in town the day of the show, head down to the venue. Wait for the opening band to finish. The closer it gets to the headliner going on, the more desperate a scalper will be to unload their tickets and make anything off them.

Definitely not a fun process if you don't get them through the TC. Unless you want to be guaranteed good seats and don't mind spending a fortune, stay away from Stubhead/Ebay etc. I've pretty much spent every day leading up to a tour scouring all of the sites (up to 6-7), and generally......the prices do not come down much at all. For the last tour in NY, some of the decent seats going for $350+ maybe fluctuated by $20-30 or so here and there. After 15yrs...I think I'm finally done with these sites. So, check TM leading up like people are saying.....most places should have some pop up (NY in 2008 did not though, but that was crazy to get into to). I've also seen a bunch of fan club members that had singles before the show. I'm contemplating flying to Chicago in hopes of scoring a single....but who knows. Good Luck!!

my advice to those looking for toronto tix is to definitely stay on this board and check here and the GTF section ... people buy tickets for friends and they bail ... just hope to be there at the right time ... most fans here will sell you at face ... next, i would try ticketmaster the day or two before the show ... don't think they will release too many seats as the amphitheatre is a basic set up i think ...

if all else fails - find someone with a sailboat! ... get them to anchor outside the concert venue - the sound isn't too bad out in the water! ... that's what my friends are doing ...

    Listen to benjs...

In my experience (and I've been to hundreds of concerts) if you get shut out of good tickets when they go on sale, your best bet is far and away to show up at the venue without a ticket. If you get there early, there are almost always some tickets released at the door, often very very good seats. I got 4th row at NIN a few years ago in Los Angeles this way...

They hold back tickets for VIPs, etc. and at a certain point they release the unclaimed ones.

Pretty much the least cost effective method you can use is to use Stubhub or TicketsNow. These are huge shows, so there will be tickets everywhere.

There are ALWAYS tickets. I've never had to scalp. Maybe paying an extra 20 bucks or so...but nothing extreme like stubhub.

keep checking the board, too...lots of helpful fans around that end up with extra tickets for one reason or another.

Man, you guys are the epitome of awesome.

I, like Rob, was in a sad place pondering my options and this has made me feel at least temporarily better. Scalping or showing up at the venue the day of seems to be a viable option....it just goes against my crazy OCD overplanning side!

Re: seeking out tickets on here from other members who have extras....how exactly does that work? I just know that I have seen the random posts of someone looking for a ticket who pretty much seems to be ignored/bumped, so I figured that was sort of passe. So is the deal that you basically don't actively seek out tix, but rather respond when someone posts about extras? Again, sorry for the newbie questions, but a little info is always helpful.

    thanks again

I've had the best luck responding quickly to someone's post, but I've also PM'd people who were looking for tickets if I have an extra...I think both methods work...you'll see more tickets pop up as extras the closer we get to the shows...

Going to the show without a ticket takes some getting used to, but it totally works. If you get shut out at the ticket window for some reason, don't panic and rush to buy from the scalpers. There will be people around with extras...and if you wait until close to when the band starts, the scalper's prices will plummet.

This is very encouraging, thanks a million.

Well, now I am nervous. I´m planning on traveling to the seattle shows and la shows. I hope I could get to see at least four gigs. Otherwise, I´ll probably won´t travel at all. Harsh it might seem, but i would travel from guatemala!

BTW, the prices on stubhub are still crazy nowadays for the chicago shows!

I want to assure my tickets for key arena and gibson before booking the plane tickets. I´m very anxious!
