Just wondering how it could be possible to buy backstage pass or after-party pass?? I guess basically there are a very small amount and they are handed out to select people close to the band.

Will it be possible to try and see the guys going into the Arena. I would love to try and get couple of autographs but not sure if at the MEN if they walk in via a door or the bus drives inside.

Why what sorry ???? I would love to be backstage to get a feel for the gig from a different perspective and to see the whole routing the guys, crew and staff go through.

Despite all the "They are normal guys - dont idolise them" - it is still my dream to meet the guys, say hello and grab couple of autographs.I do understand the "playdownability" that hard-core PJ fans have in respect to the guys - but at the end of it all, if they had no fans interested in meet n greets from time to time, im sure it would be more weird.

You can't simply buy a backstage pass, most bands enjoy their privacy after a gig and don't wish to be bombarded by fans 20 minutes after leaving the stage. Maybe the rich companies who hire out those booths have some special way of sorting out meet and greets sometimes, but I don't think Pearl Jam are the kind of band to go for things like that.

As for watching them enter at the MEN, it's really not that much fun. The MEN has a gated off area for buses to drive into, so if you want to watch a bus with darkened windows drive in and maybe get a slight glimpse of the band walk into the venue from 200m away, go for it. More often than not when a big band arrives at the venue they're under pressure to get the soundcheck done ASAP so hanging around outside is kinda rude to the sound techs. So if you want to wait outside the gates to meet the band, it's best to do it after the show.

Sorry to disappoint, but there really is no magic solution to meeting the band. As much as people do the downplayability thing, if there was an easy way to meet the band I'm sure that at least half of the fans would leap at it.

    Thanks Fowls - appreciated advice.

Might get luck and walk into same hotel as them :) - might have a hangout afterwards but then again as you say, I am sure it will just be a bus driving out of the gate.

I let some girl borrow my phone after the Fox show in St Louis. She told me where they were staying. One of the guys with us had to be back early, so we didn't go. Probably the closest I'll ever get, but it's really not that big a deal. I'd love to meet them or whatever, but they probably remember how much I like them already anyway, every time they buy a new house.

I didn't stay, but it was SO easy to do a meet and greet of Eddie in Memphis, see the buses parked outside the venue and a few streets down see the Peabody Hotel and a huge tour bus parked there. Upon driving into the city around noon we drove right past 2 buses parked outside The Orpheum Theater and there were no gates or anything, very out in the open. About 5 minutes later I was at a traffic light and one of the buses was in the left turn lane and we were going straight and I looked over and said "Oh, there' Eddie or his crew". A few minutes later that same bus was outside The Peabody checking in and then a few minutes later it was already parked. This was just from driving around Memphis and seeing what was in the area. After the show I was walking around waiting for my ride and down at the end of the parking lot were a group of people just standing waiting for Eddie. There were no gates, just some nice cars parked to kind of separate the fans from the way Ed would walk and a guard or 2. It was such a small scale the I could imagine if I didn't know about it and was just walking around I would have spotted it and stood and waited 3 hours to meet him. I stayed for 5 minutes and saw 2 ladies walk into the bus, one blond and one brunette. I assume they were the girlfriends or wives or whatever.

Unfortunately, I assume PJ shows are a lot different but fans do it, apparently. Ah, I'm going to miss the small scale of the solo shows ....
I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.

At huge arena shows, even if you have a backstage pass, you may never even see the band......most bands have security people in front of their dressing room doors, so unless the band knows you, it is unlikely to get any time with the band.

In addition to being a Ten Club member, I'm also a member of The Campaign, the official Queensryche fan club. Queensryche is one of the only rock bands (other than Metallica) that distributes meet & greet passes (and soundcheck passes) using a lottery system to members of their fan club. I'm hoping to get a meet & greet pass before Queensryche's show in Montgomery, AL, in October. However, most bands for whatever reason, don't want to engage in this type of perk for their fans. It's no big deal to me; I'm still a big Pearl Jam fan and my life doesn't revolve around me trying to meet any of the guys in person and I probably never will.

I may be the only one on the board i can think of who has gotten backstage passes to pj arena shows. since i used to manage backstage. Youre not gonna be able to buy them and as far as i know pj doesnt do aftershows. quite the opposite. they go into "lockdown" when the band enters the venue. this means their shows are more tight than most. even if you did get backstage theres nothing to do and you'd stand out like a sore thumb. hope this helps. :)

so, its looking likey i have a backstage passes and a vip area pass to MEN, are you saying its not worth it? even if i dont see them its worth a try. a couple people say 'why?' heres why, all of us here are because of the music, in any way, shape or form, you are here because you appreciate the music, surely you would like to meet the artist and at the very least let them know how it has affected you as a person, let alone the thousands of others. i'd love to go backstage and say thank you for the past 19 years of music and look forward to many many more. anyone who says why is just trying to justify why they havent met them yet. i dont know...im just drunk but thats may take on it...and wish me luck to MEN backstage pass ;)

RUSH has been doing this for a long ol' while.... Can't imagine a group of dudes I'd more want to hang with than Neil, Geddy and Alex.
    [sic] happens
