I can't be alone in being frustrated as fuck at three quarters of that episode being so damn dark that I had a tough time telling what in the hell was going on.
It was frustrating but I thought they were just trying to underscore confusing it was to be the characters in that moment. Next week when it's light out we'll account for the survivors
I am still on E1 S1, lol, but my filmmaker friend, who is also a big GoT fan, said this when I asked if it was true that the episode was too dark to see:

"yes but i would say to the desired effect. a large part of the horror and tension of the episode was that they were fighting in conditions that made it impossible to distinguish friend from foe which made it all the more chaotic and exciting. Its an episode not like any other and should be listened to as intensely as it should be watched. the sound design and the score carry the action and the performances in this episode unlike any other where its usually the writing and acting that is doing the heavy lifting."

You want art?  Do a painting.

We want visuals when we are watching dragons man...
Oh wow, haha. I really do think of film and TV as art (because it is), so yeah, I want art on the screen!
I get what you are saying but the sound of the dragon is not the star of the show the actual sight of the dragon is.

So the all black sequence was really hard to see on the screen.  Not very artsy...

I also wonder if that is it for the white walkers and any discussion on the history.
For some reason I don't think it's over.

When the Night King didn't die from the dragon fire, I kind of inferred he was a Targarean (sp?). I wonder if Bran knows more from his mysterious bird visit in the middle of the battle. There has to be more of a reason for the Night King to specifically go after Bran other than that he touched him in one of his visions. . . . Just a thought

I took the Brans crow release before the battle as him just scouting what the impending attack consisted of.

He sent the crows to go poop on the night kings’s car which was double parked in a handicap zone just beyond the battle lines.

I'm almost certain it's not over.
If it is over and done with, so is Bran's story, and there is more there.
Read an article from a guy who thinks Bran is trying/wanting to become the new Night King and because he was getting more and more powerful, the Night King wanted to kill him to assure that didn't happen.
Something is going to happen with Bran and I don't think it's going to be for the good of Westeros.

I envy you....the best way to watch GOT is to binge watch it several episodes at a time and overlap seasons in a day vs a year.  When I went back and watched from the beginning it made much more sense.  I wish I would have waited to watch the last few seasons back to back and then watch the new season in real time.
Yes, I'm glad for this... My regret is that I'll be so outdated, lol. No timely memes and unending GoT news stories for me! Now excitement and theories to share online the day after each episode.... But I will say that the main reason I'm getting ready to start watching the series is because I've become so annoyed by the endless GoT shit online that I don't understand. I'm so out of the loop! But then this makes no sense anyhow, since I'll be too late for it all in any case. I will still be out of the loop in any meaningful way, lol.
I started watching the each of the first 4 seasons after the last episode of each season finished. So I binge watch each season and then wait for the next season to come out. After season 4, I missed season 5 at the time of release, due to work and inability to watch. Then never got around to watching it, so left  the next 2 seasons as well. I finally got around to watching season's 5-7 about 2 months ago and smashed them over about 3 weeks, which rolled into the start of this season.
My wife has now decided that she should watch the whole show, as she never saw anything after S1 E1, thinking she wouldn't enjoy it.  So whilst watching the new episodes, I'm re-watching the start of the show with her, and she is now just finished S2. It's refreshed so much in my mind and also helped clarify and few family relations/positions that had been forgotten from the early seasons

I started watching GOT right after season 4 aired. It was nice to get through the first 4 seasons in a month, but then a pain wait a year+ after that.
The best part was I forget so much, I've had to rewatch the entire series with almost every new season. There's so many minor characters that pop up once, then are a main focus point 3 seasons later. So watching it through all at once will probably help it make much more sense too.
exactly....way too much shit going on

i saw that there is a theory that the three eyed raven is the actually biggest villain in the series. bran died in the cave and the three eyed raven took over his body. i did not notice that the face on the tree in the godswood looks just like the three eyed raven.

I don't think she is pregnant with his baby, she either miscarried or was never pregnant to begin with. I was wondering how they were working around the obvious plot hole that she announced being pregnant in episode 5 of last season, and still isn't showing after all this time and read a couple of theories about it. She was drinking after sleeping w/ Euron, and she wouldn't drink when speaking w/ Tyrion last season - maybe she stopped caring about the baby, or maybe there was no baby (if there ever was one) by the time she slept with Euron, who knows?

With all that being said, Jaime is still under the impression she is pregnant with his baby, so your question still stands.

Last night's episode was entertaining, as are most others, but it's gotten so far away from what made it great in the early seasons. I'm looking forward to the next two episodes, and seeing how they wrap it up, but it's just another TV show at this point, and has been for at least the last two seasons.

I got the sense that Jamie was riding to King's Landing to rescue Cersei.

Ser Brienne of Tarth turning into a blubbering mess during that scene was dumb.

Oh, and what was the deal with the Hound and Sansa? My wife couldn't even answer that one for me. Or maybe she was just sick of my questions by then.

Also, they never showed him or his reaction, I speculate this was intentional, but Euron was standing right next Cersei when Tyrion was talking to her. As of that point, he (Euron) only just learned about her being pregnant with his baby. Euron would have to be wondering how the hell Tyrion would know she is pregnant.

As she originally said she'd sleep with him after the war, she quickly changed her mind and let him "put a baby inside her". My belief is she is still pregnant with Jamie's baby and she is making Euron think it is his baby just to ensure he does not double cross her. Then. She will double cross him after the war (or at least plan to). He will figure this out from Tyrion discussing her being pregnant and double cross her and that will be the turning point in the war.

Just my completely uninformed speculation without much thought going into it.

They had kind of an odd relationship when Sansa was "captive" by Joffrey and Cersei.  He kind of protected her (saved her life one time) and kind of had a thing for her it seemed.  At first she was horrified by him, then was able to empathize with him.  When he bailed during the Battle of the Blackwater, he offered to take her with him and she declined.

When The Hound was Joffrey’s bodyguard he was always looking for Sansa. He stopped her from pushing Joffrey off the tower bridge when he made her look at Ned’s head on a spike. He also saved her from an angry mob in King's Landing.
And when he left King’s Landing after the Battle of the Blackwater he tried to get her to leave with him, but she turned him down.
