Depends on where you are staying. O'Hare is farther north. Midway is smaller and quite nice these days. If you're staying downtown you'll get a reasonable rate from both airports. There is often a price difference from certain cities flying into these airports, Southwest has great deals into Midway. But again, depends on where you're headed.
As for the last post, he's correct since Midway is right on top of a neighborhood, but then again you really won't be leaving the airport. I'm from the Midway airport area and it's fine, not a problem.
I prefer midway just because it is smaller and easier to get around. They both are connected by trains that take you downtown presumably where you are staying. I always get lost at o'hare the airport is huge. It all comes down to price. Go with the less expensive one its all the same getting to where you are going(one train ride).
O'Hare is a huge airport, and you would have to take a train ride to get to downtown, which is about an hour to an hour and a half. If you arrive in Midway, the train ride is only about a half hour to downtown. I prefer riding on the Orange Line (the only train there is at Midway airport) as opposed to the Blue Line (which comes from O'Hare Airport).
Usually flights to/from Midway are a bit more expensive, depending on what you find.

To find I'd known this all along.
Also, there are a bunch of hotels near Midway airport (and shuttle rides). They are probably cheaper than the ones downtown if you are looking to save money.

The same can be said for hotels around O'hare. Usually the average price for downtown hotels is $125 a night and up. You can find a nice hotel by O'hare (and probably one that will shuttle you back and forth to the airport (and the train system) for roughly $80-$100.
Like everyone else has said, either airport has trains that will take you right into the city, it's just a matter of deciding how far away you want to be and how much you want to pay. Most of the time O'hare is cheaper.

Unless you fly southwest. They have 49$ fares right now. Just booked roundtrip to Nashville for EV for 2 price was just over 200$. Could not find anything out of o'hare for under 400$. Anyways do your research and find your cheapest deal. As for hotels people on the board are claiming they are getting the hyatt on wacker downtown for 60$ a night on priceline under name your own price. If that's true you can't beat it near any airport and you will be near everything. I am considering booking a night and I live in Chicago.

Both are fine, O Hare is closer to downtown though and is in a little better part of town...
DISINFORMATION ALERT!
Midway is closer to downtown. And it's surrounded by residental neighborhoods that are harldy bad.
Ohare is surrounded by nothing, as it's in the northwest suburbs.
The orange line will take you from midway to the loop in 30 minutes. Blue line from ohare to the loop? Hour. without slow zones.
CORRECT... Midway IS closer to downtown than O'Hare. And its much quicker to get to downtown via the Orange LIne (Midway) than the blue line (O'Hare).
Either airport is perfect, just use the one with cheaper fares. I prefer Midway because it doesnt take ages to get your luggage and walk through the terminal (O'Hare is monstrous). And neither are in a bad neighborhood.
Hey Mr KnowitAll- obviously it depends on how he's getting there (renting a car, taking the train, etc), and what time of the day he's getting there.
