Parking at the Hyatt Regency

So I'm one of those who purchased a room through priceline for $60. Did you guys know that overnight parking is $48!!!!!! Isn't that sad?

I'm coming from Wisconsin so I think I'm going to park out at O'Hair and ride the train in to save some cash. Do I have any other alternatives? Where is the cheapest/safest place to leave a car and ride the train?

Thanks...super excited....can't wait to see you freaks:)

I just booked a hotel in Rosemont because of the parking prices in downtown Chicago. I have to suck it up and pay $22/day but I can come and go as I please.

If you're going through Milwaukee I would take the train in! I'll be doing that myself most likely.

You can park in the Millenium Park Garages. It's $15 a day and is somewhat close to the the Hyatt Regency.

I didn’t notice that… I booked it last night as well through Priceline!
I don’t like not renting a car when I go to another city, but $48 is INSANE! That’s almost as much as the freaking room!!!

I have to find somewhere else to park my rental because there ain’t no way I’m paying almost $100 for 2 nights of parking!

Honestly, unless you guys intend to do some sightseeing outside the city, there is no need to rent a car. You can take the CTA Blue Line in from O'Hare for $2.25 (about a 40 minute train ride) and the Hyatt Regency is in a location that's very close to trains or buses that will get you anywhere in the city.

Haven't decided where I'm staying at in August yet, but when vedhead27 and I stayed there for the EV shows, we got a spot on the street. The meters shut off at a certain point at night and we fed the meter for a few hours in the morning and went sight seeing and did the same thing the next night. I think I spent like 10-15 bucks total on parking for my two nights stay there.

Yeah, dont count on the meters. It has gotten so fucking ridiculous around here. You gotta pay the meters from 8am-9pm everyday now. People are getting parking tickets everywhere, including myself.

If you are staying at a downtown hotel DO NOT use their parking services! Check into your hotel, and move your car to a Public Parking garage nearby. There are plenty of them around, and should only be about $25-30 per day MAX... hotel parking rates are total BS. Someone mentioned parking under Millenium park, that place is easy to get to, just drop off you luggage first and have a nice walk back from your car :-)

And DO NOT plan on finding a meter spot to park, about 2 months ago the city went to 7 day parking structures, so Sundays are no longer free and you have to pay 8am-9pm (24 hours in some locations), plus its $2-4 per HOUR to park. You are better off in a garage.

Thanks for the tip, that's what I was thinking I would do, that's what I do all the time when I'm in Seattle, it takes a little longer to drive around waiting for a spot but it beats having to pay $48 for parking

Mrs.Vedder78... not sure if you read through the rest of this thread, but I highly suggest NOT street parking. Meters in chicago are a lot different from last year when EV played here.

Downtown parking is $4 an hour, and most places in the Loop is now 24 hour metered parking, so unless you feel like waking up every two hours to fill the meter, go to a cheaper public garage (ie Millenium or Grant Park).

METERS IN THE LOOP ARE 24/7! AND COST $4 AN HOUR!

No I hadn’t noticed the posts about the parking meters, the parking garage sounds like a good idea, $15 heck even $20 doesn’t sound to bad, but $48 they have got to be kiddin’ me!
