do you remember "whiter shade of pale" by procol harum? when i have a musician play at my birthday party in november, i'm putting that on my set list (even though he's established in his own career, that is one of the songs he covers. also i'm requesting "thunder road.")

iluvcats, I don't know if you have ever heard of Zakk Wylde or Black Label Society, but Zakk does in my opinion a phenomenal version of "Whiter Shade of Pale". He is a metal singer by trade but an underrated musician to most. He plays the piano and sings in this cover.

I thought Simple Man was a Bad Co. tune. Or did Bad Co. cover LS?? Or are there 2 songs by that name??

very good rock history memory! although i have the cd, i had to look b/c i did not remember. simple man was on run with the pack by bad company. i actually saw them not too long ago. i don't know if it is the same song.

Completely different song with a totally different theme. My buddy's swing band created a special arrangement of Skynyrd's Simple Man for the dance with my mother at my wedding. The lyrics to the song hold special meaning to me. It was phenomenal!

EDIT: Just wanted to add that the Bad Co. song is excellent as well!

Is that Lynard Skynard song called Simple Man? I was never a LS fan, just heard them on the radio.

Any way, the other night I heard Shinedown covering Simple Man on the radio and it was great! Go ahead and laugh...but that guy sounded really good.

Nothing wrong with Shinedown. I saw them last year. They were pretty damn good. And their version is better then Skynard.
