Saying thank you for a thank you card?

really?

at work, one of the girls is pregnant and everyone got her a baby gift before she went out on maternity, and she sent around thank you cards thanking everyone for the presents. now i hear people going into her office saying, "thank you for the thank you card!" seriously? is this necessary?

didn't know a thank you card deserved a follow up.

    Perhaps the card made the person feel good and they wanted to mention it to her?

    I hope they send her a thank you card for her thank you card to them for the baby gift they got her.
