Seattle Vacation
I am vacationing to Seattle this coming weekend and was wondering if anyone had suggestions of things to do while I am there. I would like to check out the Left Hand Smoke show on Friday night at the Tractor and wouldn't mind visiting the EMP. Other than those two gems, I have no plans.
Seattle fans, be my tour guides!

And so it goes...
Take a ferry over to Bainbridge Island. The view of Elliot Bay from Fay Bainbridge State Park is cool. There's the Woodland Park Zoo. There's Gas Works Park (Singles) and Magnuson Park (the Soundgarden sculpture is next to Magnuson park at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.)
Wander around Seattle Center, head down to the Pier and hit Ye Old Curiosity Shop and Ivars for touristy things. There's Pioneer Square, Mariner's games, Freemont antique mall. Beth's Cafe on Aurora has the best breakfast food around.
If you have extra time, drive up to Anacortes and island hop around the San Juan's.
Have fun!

Attractions/Things to do
-Explore Pike Place Market! The seafood, the produce, the shops, the flowers, etc -- it's a full-on sensory overload! Make sure not to miss the fishmongers launching salmon at each other url]http://www.pikeplacefish.com/[/url or see the original Starbucks.
-Check out the Seattle waterfront on a nice day. Board the Bainbridge Island ferry or take an Argosy Cruise [http://www.argosycruises.com/] to get out on the water -- Argosy's dinner cruises are fantastic! The north end of the waterfront takes you to the Seattle Art Museum's Outdoor Sculpture Park url]http://www.seattleartmuseum.org/visit/osp/AboutOSP/default.asp[/url which is nice to mosey about.
-The Seattle Underground Tour url]http://www.undergroundtour.com/[/url is a lot of fun!
-Take in the postcard views from Kerry Park url]http://www.seattle.gov/Parks/park_detail.asp?id=342http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?id=293http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=445http://depts.washington.edu/wpa/index.htm[/url.
-Head east to Snoqualmie Falls and Salish Lodge url]http://www.salishlodge.com/http://www.trainmuseum.org/[/url. Believe it or not, Snoqualmie also has a nice Indian casino that just opened up if they want to check that out too url]http://snocasino.com/index.php#/[/url.
-If they want to take the time, head to Paradise on Mount Rainier or Johnston Ridge on Mount St Helens -- both are ~3 hour drives from Seattle.
-See the Seattle Center and the Space Needle, of course.
-Boeing's got a sweet Museum of Flight if they like aviation [http://www.museumofflight.org/].
-Catch an M's game at Safeco url]http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/sea/ballpark/index.jsphttp://www.pyramidbrew.com/alehouses/seattle[/url.
-Watch the boats (and sometimes salmon) at the Ballard Locks url]http://www.ci.seattle.wa.us/tour/locks.htm[/url.
-If they like books, send them to the Elliott Bay Book Company url]http://www.elliottbaybook.com/[/url. Not as big as Powell’s in Portland but still huge and better ambiance, I think.
Lunch and Dinner spots
-Duke's Chowderhouse url]http://www.dukeschowderhouse.com/http://www.anthonys.com/restaurants/info/pier66.html[/url are local chains offering a good variety of great seafood and ambiance but neither a budget-killer. Both have multiple locations around town.
-Elliot's Oyster Bar url]http://www.elliottsoysterhouse.com/[/url is a bit more pricey but awesome. They specialize in raw oysters and have a great location on the Seattle waterfront.
-Chandler's Crabhouse url]http://www.schwartzbros.com/chandlers.cfm[/url is pricier still but incredible food and a killer location on Lake Union.
-Haven't been to Ray's yet, but it's supposed to be pretty great too url]http://www.rays.com/new/[/url.
-Great place for lunch that is known mostly to locals is Paseo url]http://www.yelp.com/biz/paseo-seattle[/url. The food is fantastic! Warning: Be prepared for lots of people and probably getting it to-go because it's a tiny hole in the wall. Also, they only take cash. If you can deal with its eccentricities, it's the best Cuban sandwich you've ever had.
-For artisan meats, cheeses, and sandwiches go to Salumi url]http://www.salumicuredmeats.com/ourstorefront.htm[/url. Again, do not come here if you're in a hurry. It'll be packed but it'll be so worth it.
-Another local spot I haven't been to but always has a line out the door is Red Mill Burgers url]http://www.redmillburgers.com/[/url.
-Of course there a ton of options at the Pike Place Market. A few of my favorites are Piroshky url]http://www.piroshkybakery.com/[/url, Emmett's url]http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=Emmett+seattle&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&view=text&latlng=16173817548932321795&dtab=2&ei=w6vsScm8HqP0tAPssYjyAQ&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=result&resnum=1[/url, and around the corner from the Pike Place fishmongers is The Daily Dozen Donut Co url]http://www.seattlepi.com/photos/dailydozen/[/url -- my favorites are the cinnamon.
Micro-Brews and Wineries
-Not a micro-brew per se, but Brouwers url]http://www.brouwerscafe.com/bier.htmlhttp://www.halesales.com/[/url with great local beer and good bar food.
-If they venture east, they have to hit the Redhook Brewery url]http://www.redhook.com/http://ste-michelle.com/[/url both located in Woodinville conveniently across the street from each other. Both do tours with samples for a small fee. The grounds of the Chateau Ste Michelle are beautiful.
-If they come out further east to Snoqualmie Valley, they need to check out Snoqualmie Falls Brewery & Taproom url]http://www.fallsbrew.com/index.html[/url. They don't do tours but the grub is good for lunch and the beer is awesome. I go here all the time. Warning: It'll be packed on the weekends with all the folks in for the Snoqualmie Train Depot.
Hotels
- I don't have any strong hotel recommendations. The one place I always thought looked awesome but I'm sure is a little spend-y is The Edgewater url]http://www.edgewaterhotel.com/[/url.
