LED ZEPPELIN: The Avocado!

Just saw this ad on the website for Wolfgang's Vault, and was surprised to see anohter great band that employed the avocado, albeit this one was for a poster, and it was the idea of the poster artist and not the band, but what the hell, I thought I'd post it anyway because I never saw any band other than Pearl Jam use the avocado in any way at all...that said, I like Pearl Jam's avocado better than Led Zeppelin's avocado...I never thought I'd use those words together is a sentence...


The first time Led Zeppelin played San Francisco, they opened for Country Joe & the Fish; just three months later, they headlined four nights at Fillmore West and Winterland. BG170 was unlike any other Led Zeppelin poster or, in fact, any other poster in the BG series. Artist Randy Tuten had tired of seeing blimps in every Led Zeppelin advertisement, so he came up with the green avocado. Tuten liked it so much he "... wanted to do one a month that way- a series of crazy fruit posters."

I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!

    ok, this is weird. someone posted a pic on the old board of another avocado album cover.. it's very similar to PJ's.

    A tie-dye version of the Zeppelin avocado poster was a popular t-shirt back in the day. It definitely came to mind when I saw the PJ cover.
