And that was one of the better boots..... Although I'm still happy to have them, I long for the sound of the 2000 boots.

When do those become available to trade and whatnot? How long do they usually leave them for sale on the website? I'm still waiting for them to pop up on the bootlegs website
    2006- Boston I
    2008- Boston I+II
    2009- Toronto, Philly III+IV
    2010- Bristow, Hartford, Boston, Newark

Agreed.....most of the 08 boots don't sound very good at all. But they sound better than the "bootlegs" from the 90's that cost 50 bucks.

Agreed, i only bought 2 boots from 08 and they really don't sound too good. A lot of the mixing is wrong. I still think the euro/usa 06 are the best yet. Hope they are a lot better for 09 shows (assuming we are getting them)

Really? I thought 2000 was the worst.

2008, I thought, was somewhere in the middle. I never got why people thought it was so bad.

Personally I feel the boots since around 2005 have sounded a bit muddy, and with a distinct lack of definition, especially in the lower frequencies like the bass and kick. I think it may have something to do with the speed at which they must be mixed and released. Boots are available a week after the show, meaning a minimal time to mix and master.

Although it could also be just a change in the mix engineer's personal taste etc. And it could also be a change in the way the band like their own sound individual sounds. Jeff may have changed his live tones and for sure Matt's kit, and also the way it is tuned, has definitely changed.
    JUST PLAY THE F***ING NOTE!!!

I don't know what the issue is but our favorite band is too good to put out inferior sounding boots like this. The Broo disc sounds like a mono sbd source from the 95 Japan shows.

Pearl Jam always cares so much about sound quality and I hope they fix this in the future.

    thats for sure true.

the west palm boot was available right on time and shounds like shit.
then the bonnaroo disc was months late and sounded twice as good.
id rather wait a year and get a LO2L's quality :D

The 2008 boots are the best in my opinion. How does everyone listen to the 2008's? I use $29 sony MDR-EX36 earbuds... deep deep bass. Makes me feel like I'm there.

After hearing so many complaints I was shocked at how great they sound. All of them!

Hoping for the exact same in 09!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think what you're listening to them through makes a big difference. My only wish is that Matt would use his drumkit from the 2000 era, but hey I'm just happy to have seen them, and have as many bootlegs as I do.

Pearl Jam still remains the coolest band in rock.

agreed......they sound FLAT! i don't even listen to them...did they use verizon for them? whoever it was please use someone else...
2006 euro were actually really good...probably b/c verizon was far away.

2008 sounded WAY better than that crap from 2005-2006. I am not saying 2008 was great (2000-2003 are great IMO), but they were better than the previous tours. The company was Kufala IIRC.

I agree with these boots sounding inferior. In the 2000 boots, Matt's drum tone is rediculous, they pop more. As for the 2006, IMO they are the best sounding boots overall. They could do no wrong by me if every boot this point forward was mixed that way...

I think he is using that set again...

thats the Ayotte set that he is behind in that pic.

Anyway the Euro 2000 boots are easily the best IMO, like someone else said. For me, the 03 boots are the worst, I think they sound the alot more muddy than the 06 boots. You can't hear the drumming as much as the other boots either

    For me its:
    euro 2000
    2006
    2000
    2008
    2003
    5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10
    8/7/08, 6/9/09

For me the boots keep getting progressively worse, with Europe 2000 being the best sounding (perfect mix, snappy drums, meaty guitars, also the lowest in volume and therefore most dynamic)...and the 2008 sounding the worst (bad mixing, muddy drums, weak guitar, heavy compression, loud volume)...someone mentioned that they sound good in ear buds...that's the point...they deliberatley master them shitty now so they will sound good on a ipod, and like mashed-up garbage on a good system. The Europe 2000 boots sound so good it's scary, but unfortunately most people think they sound weak because they're too stupid to turn up the volume.

I dunno about that. It's awful hard to hear Mike on the '06 boots. That was my main complaint about them. Soundwise they're okay but the mixing is not what it was in 2000 or even 2003.

It depends on the show. I think Las Vegas, Milan and Pistoia from 2006 are among the best sounding boots they have ever done.

2000 is still my favorite though.
