In answer to the question " Do You Like American Music ?" , I say a resounding yes !! Prefer them with Victor DiLorenzo on drums ( as opposed to Guy Hoffman), but enjoy all their music. They are absolutely incredible live.

If you have a chance to acquire "Live At The Boat House" on DVD, do so. Great performance !!! The DVD includes : Look Like That, Out The Window, Fat, Blister In The Sun, Prove My Love, Country Death Song, Old Mother Reagan, Confessions, Girl Trouble, Add It Up, Kiss Off, Good Feeling, and More Money Tonight . SWEET !!!!!!!!!!!!!
    "Buy the ticket,take the ride"

I'll have to check that out thanks. I was unaware the femmes had a dvd. Last thing I heard about them was Gordon and Brian were in a nasty court battle dispute over song publishing and that was at least two years ago maybe. Haven't seen much other stuff on them in the press or pollstar.com.

For a live audio album I'd like to add that viva Wisconsin cd is really good.

  • I hope you know this will go down on your permanent record

I thought this was on my iTunes, but it looks as though we just have the 'hits' album or whatever.
No To The Kill for me. :(

I have the cassette (somewhere  ). All of the ink is worn off of it and the sleeve is gone, but I know what tape it is.

Loved that album in college after hearing them at the UMass spring concert in 1994. Fucking great show!

'In 2007, Gano angered Ritchie by selling advertising rights for the classic "Blister in the Sun" to Wendy's Hamburgers.'

I laughed when I read that. I mean, if you're gonna sell the rights to your music to anyone, then why not sell them to Wendy's burgers.
    I like Gano's style. :D

'Although nearly all of the band's songs, including Blister in the Sun, credit Gano as the sole songwriter, Ritchie responded to the use of the song in the commercial by saying:

"For the fans who rightfully are complaining about the Wendy's burger advertisement featuring Blister in the Sun, Gordon Gano is the publisher of the song and Warners is the record company. When they agree to use it there's nothing the rest of the band can do about it, because we don't own the song or the recording. That's showbiz. Therefore when you see dubious or in this case disgusting uses of our music you can thank the greed, insensitivity and poor taste of Gordon Gano, it is his karma that he lost his songwriting ability many years ago, probably due to his own lack of self-respect as his willingness to prostitute our songs demonstrates. Neither Gordon (vegetarian) nor me (gourmet) eat garbage like Wendy's burgers. I can't endorse them because I disagree with corporate food on culinary, political, health, economic and environmental grounds. However, I see my life's work trivialized at the hands of my business partner over and over again, although I have raised my objections numerous times. As disgusted as you are I am more so."[2]'

'Color Me Once' from the Crow soundtrack is one of my all-time favorite songs.

aw man i love this band's debut, Viva Wisconsin (live) and their last cd studio album Freak Magnet from 1999 I think.

saw em live 3 times with their 1st ever Irish gig in vicar St back in Nov 99 though i passed out in the loo after 6 songs due to havin only turned 18 and drank a fuck load of cider b4 the gig!!

saw em sober as a judge in the Olympia after that and again in Vicar St in 03 but not since.

missd em in Jan 07 in Dublin and Roisn Dubh in Galway.

They did release a cover of a Gnarls Barkley's Crazy last summer which I still have to hear, but i guess that was in reply to GB covering Gone Daddy Gone on their smash hit record.

Hope to god they play live again.

I have the 20th anniversary edition of their debut album, it comes with demos and a few unreleased tracks- some are hilarious, like "Gimme the Car" and "Girl Trouble."

I don't know too much of their discography but the debut is definitely a classic.
Any suggestions on their other stuff?
