Ticket Price for TO

Just curious if anyone knows why the ticket prices are so expensive. I saw around five shows from the 2005 Canadian tour, and the prices were not that much. Maybe around fifty per. Anyway, it's a bummer because I really can't afford to pay that much to go to a show. Is there a reasonable explanation for the high prices? I mean, even something like a David Bowie show was way less expensive than that. I saw NIN a couple years ago and the cost for tickets was also considerably less -- and the band had an elaborate stage setup too that would have definately required a lot of funds to support.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there for discussion.

I would suggest that's the cost it takes to put on a show these days?!? It's almost like the members and crew of Pearl Jam is looking to make a living!!! Oh no!

What do you do to make a LIVING!

they are no more expensive than last years shows...
ticket prices are a constant battle around here, but get with the times people, it is not 1995 again!
    Prices go up ;)
Compared to ticket prices for a lot of shows here in Australia, the prices look pretty good!

    2006 - Reading Festival,
2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,
    2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,
    2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,
2010 - I watched it go to fire!
    2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,
    2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,

But I truly had a genuine question: why are Pearl Jam's ticket prices so high?

I constantly go to shows, so I'm definately with the times, and I don't expect 1995 ticket prices. But I did list a few huge acts with huge stage productions (much more elaborate than Pearl Jam's) that I have been to see recently and tickets were at least a third less than PJ's.

As for "making a living" -- that might be a reason why they charge so much, because there's no money in cd sales. I can't blame them for wanting to make a profit. I guess the problem that I have is that they've turned pretty far away from being champions of fair ticket-pricing, and it's sometimes hard to swallow. They're always been such a fan-friendly band, you know? No matter how much you like a band or whatever, you should always be able to question them. I love PJ, but I'm disappointed about the hefty ticket-prices.

I guess I was hoping there was a logical explanation for it that didn't involve a capitalist answer.

The prices have steadily gone up every year. In 2005, the Toronto tix were about $116. In 2006, they were $134. This year $162. All according to my order profile.

Everything has gone up in price over the past few years. Not really surprised and, regardless, Pearl Jam is a band that is actually WORTH the price of their ticket! Can't wait til August 21st! :D

tickets to the Aussie shows in 06 were $115 Australian EACH, in todays money that is $100 CAD and $85USD
    that was 2006!
Try living so far from the US like we do, and where it costs any band a hell of a lot more to get here to do shows, and then you wont complain about prices!

I still think the pricers are a bit expansive. But it could be worse.

But I don't think they are trying to keep the prices as low as they can anymore. What about the prices not being over 20dollars? ;)

How much does the opening band get ?
