Turntable distortion

Hey there I got a turntable, its got weight controll and anti skate control, I have them set at the recommended settings but as the needle reaches close to the end of the record the sound starts to distort a bit, it plays clear as a bell at the start just closer to the end like mainly last track then starts distorting and sounding kinda muddy, anyone know as to why? do i have to change a tone arm setting or something? any help would be greatly appreciated cause i don't wanna ruin my ten box set vinyls.
