Obviously too late, but I really think...

that Pearl Jam's NEXT record (not the one they are currently mastering in Atlanta) should be done with four mics in a room, fucking LIVE...Then they could show all the 'fans' who are pissed about compression, noise and the overall "unlistenability" of their previous studio records that they do, in fact, really fucking rock.

Come on Ed, let it happen...it would be monumental

Think of an entire album of Single Video Theory style energy

And sell it as a double LP through the fan club for $25, with the first 2500 copies autographed

That would stop so much of the trash talking

I would shout your names from rooftops for a fucking year if you guys had the balls to do that !!!!

You forgot one thing. 2500 copies autographed? Fan #2501 would start the "I didn't get an autographed copy :cry:, I deserve it more :cry: " thread.

2500 copies would also entail the band having to write their name 2,500 times. Talk about tedious

In regards to tedious, if Ed can play Corduroy every bleedin' show, he can sign 100 pieces a day for a month before the album(s) are released...think about how long it takes you to sign your name...that bit of effort would make the entire band shine a golden light for quite a long while!

Also, as far as the member #2501 complaining, such is life, but look at how many of us got VOLCOM singles...a whole lot less bitching about those than the "I didn't get my SDE TEN set autographed"

I already have this. It's a boot of the live radio broadcast of Self Pollution Radio from Jan 8th, 1995.

And you're right. It does sound awesome. ;)

I agree! Mentioned it a few times over the years, so I'm glad someone else is initiating it. I think recordings like the AOL live jam thing, and others like it have more character and more "rock" sound than mixing, mastering, etc.

Just jam it out in a room - one straight take. Someone fucks up a note - fine, patch it up if you can or if you have to. If you can't... jam it out again.

The fuck-ups are great anyways, they show the music loving peeps that they are human, too....like on the 2000 tour when they fucked up alive so bad that Ed said if anyone told anyone else about it he'd kill everyone...they had to stop the song around the half way point and then try it again...fucking funny!

Lighten up dude. His attempt at humor was actually funny. I'm assuming you were trying to be funny (or over dramatic?) with your rooftops comment. You failed. He succeeded.
  • Yeah, i was totally f-ing with them, I was joking, just not very succesfully....my bad!
