Didn't that Tampa station say the same thing the other day too?

Yeah, there was a thread the other day that someone started stating the same thing. Only their version says it came from a Tampa radio station. At this point, nobody has heard anything and I find it hard to believe that some radio stations would be announcing this stuff while the fans on this board are getting faint rumors at best (and trust me, somebody on here is going to hear confirmed tour news before the radio stations do).

    Here's the thread: http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=276041

Why are they touring with that Butt rocker Jerry Cantrell? They must be good friends, real good friends from Seattle man. Didn't Jerry Cantrell inexplicably play with Creed and other idiotic bands?

I don't care who they tour with, just tour! But Alice in Chains is better than that guy who opened at the point, he was terible-Patty whatever.

    I don't care who with...just tour!

BTW...AIC without Layne=PJ without Eddie! Even Cantrells lead vocals aren't the same without his harmonies.

Whatever! I never really pay attention to the opening band anyways.

    Bring on the tour!

    ditto.

at least blind melon knows they're not the same band they were with Shannon.

Jerry swings his hair around like it's 1992, as if he single handily (sp?) rose AIC to greatness. a great guitarist, yes, but Layne's voice is what carried that band.

melon opening for PJ would be greatness.
    peace.

saw the 2007 AIC twice, full electric set and one of the acoustic shows.

if you go in thinking of it as AIC, you might be disappointed.

if you go in thinking of it as a celebration of AIC's music, you will have a blast.

i agree that i'll take AIC over any PJ opener i've seen (50+ shows).

and i agree that i dont really care who opens as long as PJ tours.

Hmm, not really, Jerry sings on a lot of AIC stuff and wrote most of the songs, so without Jerry there would be no AIC. Yes undoubtbly Layne's voice was amazing but let's not take away what a huge part of AIC Jerry is, an amazing song writer and guitarist.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

Yes...I agree he is a great songwriter and GIGANTIC part of AIC. That being said...No Layne...No AIC.

Only an AIC tribute band. Sorry.

I saw the new chains open for Velvet Revolver last summer. I must say it was better than I expected, Not Layne obviously, but enjoyable. I did notice that Jerry's timing however was a bit off, it sounded like when he was playing the big recognizable riffs they were a beat slower than the studio recordings.

Who have you seen in those 50 shows lowlight?

Ben Harper and MMJ come to mind as better openers than AIC. It doesn't seem like something Pearl Jam would do but maybe so. A faor of sorts.

Did anyone follow-up with the radio station or the DJ who made the statement? I'd think that it's important to stay as close to the source of the rumor as possible. If there's info that supports it being true, that radio station probably knows of it.

Canada, says Ament, holds a special place in the band's heart because of its international policies and its decision to stay out of the war in Iraq.

    from the AIC site:
Alice in Chains are currently taking a break from touring and there are currently no plans for the band to tour in 2008. To stay on top of any changes to those plans, please sign up for Dirt, the band’s official online newsletter.
not a dates will be announce at some time..but 'no plans'...not looking good.
I don't care if they open for PJ, but I'll be annoyed if it's shared bill.
