Oustide Lands and ACL

Is it just me or not too many people here seem to even care about these two festivals? There's not a lot of buzz about them like last year's festival date- Roo. Is it becuase people ar waiting for more dates before they commit to a fesival?

And I'm shocked that there isn't even a sticky about ACL.

yeah, if I wasn't thinking a Chicago/Alpine stop was on its way sometime late this year, I would consider those shows more.

I would be, but I am not going to either festival, if they play closer to the northeast- or some other southern dates, I may go to those

True, but not ACL. I just figured that returning to TX after 6 years was a pretty big deal, but I guess not sticky worthy

    Norm, exactly.

And there were plenty of threads about it the other day when it was announced. In this case, I think the official announcement was sort of anti-climactic. We all knew they were going to play ACL. Now let's see the other tour dates.

It should have a sticky though. Take down some of those old ones.

I am extremely excited about the Texas show though. I hope there are more.

I generally don't like fetivals. If it was the only show in the continent, like Lolla in '07, I would probably go to one of them. But with some regular shows coming, I will just wait for those.

I think everybody's just focused on the "rumored" NA dates. I for one just recently changed my mind about making the trip to England because of that very reason. I just want to hold off and see what happens with the North American dates.
I actually noticed that "no sticky for ACL" thing too.
I am wondering if single day passes will be available later on for ACL.

Bonnaroo > ACL & Outside Lands

Probably why people don't care as much.

In my opinion, most festivals like this are way to similar to really differentiate between (Outside Lands, Mile High, ACL, All Points West) unless they have their own 'distinct' atmosphere / reputation like Bonnaroo, Coachella & Rothbury.

    Just my opinion.

Other reasons could be that last year we weren't sure if we were getting a tour, but Bonnaroo confirmed it - this year, we knew they were touring because of the interviews and new album coming out so these are now just two more tour dates in the midst of a tour, not them playing a festival out of nowhere.

And they are good points too.

Also, there are far less users on this board than on the old one. Things that would generate 40 pages of posts get nowhere near that kind of response now.

VERY true!!! I know ACL will be packed with PJ fans, no question about that, but I just thought there would be more buzz about it here

I agree, seems there was more buzz about outside lands. Maybe it is beacause ACL has been out there for so long it seems.

I'm excited about it! I'll be there because I have always wanted to go to Austin and this is the perfect reason. Waiting thought to make plans until I see US dates incase there are other shows I want to see around that area. Should be fun!

Let me throw one more possible "buzz kill" reason ... the economy.

Should be interesting to see how many people are going ot be travelling to all the PJ shows this tour. People may just keep it local ... or to their immediate region ... and not go all out.
