New York arena team offers Vick a contract 5 hours, 34 minutes ago

Buzz up!205 votes PrintALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—Michael Vick has a place on a minor league football team if he can get reinstated by the NFL.

The Albany Firebirds, an arenafootball2 franchise, have offered the 28-year-old quarterback a one-year contract at the league standard: $200 a week plus a $50 bonus for a win.

Vick quarterbacked the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons before being convicted of bankrolling an interstate dog fighting business.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has not said if he will lift Vick’s suspension after he completes a 23-month prison sentence. Vick goes from federal prison to home confinement next month.

The Firebirds’ contract offer requires that Vick donate $100,000 to a local humane society.

A call to Vick’s agent was not immediately returned.

I don't get it. Should we or Phil Knight be forced to donate $100k to children sewing our shoes every time we buy Nike's?

once he pays his debt to society i wont hold it against him. but the nfl does have its image to look after too. personally i dont think he's good enough as a qb for the nfl anyways. he did a better job running the ball then throwing it.

i dont care if he gets back in the nfl i just hope my team wont sign him as a qb, cause i want a qb that can throw td's.

We usually catch a few games.I won't go if Albany signs him.
The bus came by and I got on!!!!!
  • That is better than the $10 he will be making per hour at the construction company.

Now that asshole will know how real people live. He makes me sick. I hope he never plays a day in the NFL again, he doesn't deserve to. He should be treated just how he treated those poor dogs.

    Asshole.

Leonard Little killed a man while driving drunk, yet managed to continue playing football. To add insult to that, he was arrested in '04 for speeding and drunk driving.

The NFL, conveniently looked the other way and allowed him to continue playing.

Michael will be back...a precedent has been set by many active and non active players.

Exactly, anybody who abuses animals is a ball-less pile of steaming shit. He's a disgrace to his family, and is a prime example of what shitty, cruel beings we can be. If somebody did to him the things he did to those poor dogs, he'd be crying like the dickless bitch he is.

    Do the math.

$10 and hour, 40 hours a week. What does that leave after taxes? Probably closer to your $300, but in no way can he make $1000 working 40 hours a week at that wage. I understand your point, but I do not believe Vick will be getting overtime. It's all court ordered.

This amuses me...don't get me wrong what he did was unimaginably gross, but we live in a world where our corporations, governments, and individuals systematically destroy other countries' children's lives and you all are worried about a handful dogs. what a fucking joke. dude served time (that he deserved getting), get over yourselves. and while you're at it ask yourself who sewed your shoes, built your car, computer, etc. and are forced to live in conditions like this http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/200 ... of.600.jpg, and you care about still hating a guy that went to jail for killing dogs.

    dogs are cute

but youre exactly right. stallworth got drunk and ran over a person in march and yet i dont see the protest and hated for that guy like i still see for vick. vick kills some dogs and people think he should be tortured to death for it. i think anyone that is so bent out of shape with vick and yet says next to nothing about the other nfl players that killed humans need serious help, check yourself into a crazy house cause your just as unfit for society as guys like vick.
