Ok, I live in Seattle too (edmonds to be exact) and yeah, it's a little upsetting that no shows have been played here in a couple of years... but really is this much bitching needed? All i see is complaining about it and i don't get it. they've only played here what? 10 times more than anywhere else...ever. was the gorge in 2006 too far to go? Look up how many times they've played within 100 miles of seattle and then look at how many times they've played anywhere in the mid west total. Sorry, but i've got to side with people in St. Louis or Minneapolis on this one. So how bout you consider yourself lucky and then buy a ticket to ACL

You pretty much summed it up with that sentence.

And to be truthful, I, personally, am more upset with Ed at almost completely ignoring Seattle on his solo tours than I am with Pearl Jam. It really is two different subjects.

The Gorge shows were spectacular, just incredible. All 3 of them between 2005 and 2006. But that is an incredibly long haul for us when 90% of the folks who attend Gorge shows, have to travel about 200 miles from the Puget Sound region to get there. And with today's economy, I am not sure that will be the best thing to do this year. So, we are just hoping this time around for some actual Seattle or Puget Sound shows....where they haven't played in front of the masses since December 2002.

With Ed's multiple solo shows on the East coast, and PJ only playing on the East coast last year. And the lack of any real love for Seattle, the home of the band, in the past several years. It just leaves most of us Puget Sound fans feeling a tad like the south.

The only thing I will say here is that Seattle is HOME and they should play their hometown a bit more. Seattle vaulted them to where they are and they havent played seattle proper since 2000..I dont count the 2002 shows as they were warms ups, and before you jump all over me, I dont even live there. The Gorge is closer for me, but I am just sayhing. Seattle deserves some love FIRST and FOREMOST...imho...:-)

I think those of us in Seattle are upset because the band has only played one weekend here in the past three years... and for the place where they all reside, that seems like a little on the low side....

First of all, The Gorge is about 140 miles from Seattle not 100.... but you're right, it's not too far to drive.

Yes, PJ does play Seattle alot. Well, they used to. Let's look at the last nine years:

2000: Mt. Baker (about 90 miles north of Seattle) (1), Key Arena (2)
2001: Key Arena (1) Not a full show though
2002: Key Arena (2), Showbox (2) (this was the best thing PJ has done in Seattle this decade)
    2003: Benn. Hall (1)
    2004: Paramount (1)
    2005: Easy Street (1), The Gorge (1)
    2006: The Gorge (2)
    2007: NOTHING :x
    2008: NOTHING :x

Once again, the thing the Seattle people might be upset about is the number of shows since that badass four day stretch in December of 2002.... there has only been 3 major shows in almost seven years... and yes I say major because it was really fucking hard to get tickets to those small venue shows...

The obviouse thing here is fans in the Seattle area expect to see the band a little more because the band resides here.... but compared to alot of places... we are pretty spoiled...

Pearl Jam playing Seattle is SO 1990s.... ;)
    be philanthropic
  • seems like many bands play their best shows, or longest shows in their hometown, ala PJ 2000 Key Arena shows.

The fact that PJ hasnt played Seattle proper since then is pretty absurd.
  • It makes me laugh when people say that Seattle gets shows at the Gorge and thats close enough when in fact Portland is actually just as far away! PJ has not played Seattle proper since 2002, ITS TIME!

I wonder how many times REM played Athens, GA after they made it big....
I mean, if you apply that argument to every band....

First off, I am NOT arguing about anything, I am just stating my opinion..Secondly, I dont care about REM or any other band as much as I do PJ, so I dont care where they play! ;-)...3rd, we are not talking about anyone other than PJ here!

I'm sure they could afford to take a trip to their hometown if they wanted to :D
Also, the more you guys ask for it, the harder it will get. Don't get me wrong, I think you all should get a week residency at...what is it? Paramount? Showbox? Chop Suey? Moore? At one of those. But is it gonna happen? Well, we'll see I guess.

p.s. Is Chop Suey still around?

    also, pjtradeking...take it easy :)

oh, and if they do decide to play Seattle, I am SO there even though I live 12-hr away :D

I think we talking more the arena side of things like Key Arena, Tacoma Dome...or maybe even the Showare Center (but that is kinda small....but bigger than a theater).

I am not quite convinced that there is an announcement coming from that. It could just be that he is aware that Seattle should have been on that list. I hope you are right though!
