What do you want it to sound like? What kind of amp, etc...
There are so many variables.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

What are the tonal differences when playing through a tube amp?
A Jaguar will sound brighter and have more treble sound. The SG, assuming it is a Humbucker model, will have more of a chunky, deeper sound. The SG is better suited to power chords and heavier rock. The Jag is better for the clearer, cleaner stuff that a lot of modern bands play, and, of course, surf type music.

Thanks for the info.
I have owned them both...SG is an overall better guitar...check out the SG classic with P-90's, best of both worlds!

Depends on what sound you're looking for... They're both great but rather different guitars. Personally, I would opt for the Jag, too.
