where are all the people that jumped down my throat for daring to sell an ITW vinyl for more than i bought it for? the hypocracy of this board is amusing.

The difference is, thanks to expressobeans.com, there is an easy traceable way of telling the true(ish) market value of posters. Expressobeans gives lowest prices, highest prices, and six months averages - which all of Lukin321's posters seem to be at, or better than. The only way one can tell resale history of ITW is through eBay.

So by that logic if there isn't another resource such as expressobeans there's no way to figure out what the fair market value of an item is?

You can search ebay for completed auctions to find out the prices items have been selling at and thus determine the most accurate price for whatever it is you are selling.

i was simply commenting on the fact that the people who frequent this board have a twisted sense of what is "fair" and that "true pearl jam fans" selling items to other "true pearl jam fans" need to sell it at the price they bought it for or something close. yes, there are guys like demitrios out there that are incredibly nice and generous with their time and items, however, just because you and i share a love of pearl jam doesn't create an expectation of stupidity. i'm sorry, but anyone here who would sell an extremely collectable item (such as the ITW vinyl) is a fool. the market has dictated the price at what it is and no one should expect me or anyone else to sell them something at the original price simply because they want it. if that was the case someone here needs to sell me the 98 seattle poster and 98 san diego poster for $10 each or give me that reenk roink for free because ed and jeff gave them away for free so why should i pay anything for it? also, selling at market value also creates the incentive for the buyer to actually keep it.

That is the most assanine thing I have read on these boards. Why is it ok to use EB as a pricing guide but not ebay?

I haven't really been around recently so I'm not familiar with the throat-jumping this dude got for trying to sell the ITW vinyl for above the original purchase price.

However, he has a very valid point. If you are going to criticize someone for re-selling a collectible item for more than what he/she originally paid for it, it's pretty hyprocritical to praise someone else for doing the same. If your argument is that a "true Pearl Jam" fan should only re-sale an item for what he/she originally paid for it, why does that apply to vinyl but not to posters?
