Is that a joke? You should get out more...

I wish I didn't have to spring for these now. My money is so tight, but those dates are exactly when I was planning to take my post-bar trip and Europe is one of the destinations I had in mind... think it will be at all possible to get tickets to these later on this summer once I figure out where I stand financially?

im dying to get back to europe, i haven't been there since i was a kid, but there are certain cities i'd like to visit. i don't wanna fly out just for PJ. nobody I know has anything good to say about england ever (weather sucks, food sucks, everything is overpriced-their words, not mine). i feel like saving my money and taking a big west coast roadtrip makes more sense.

Well I can't argue with the last part, the west coast is pretty awesome and is the other trip I'm thinking if Europe doesn't work out for me. As to England, London is a damn cool city and I hear Berlin is great too. Don't know much about Manchester or Rotterdam... but I have had great times in certain other cities in the Netherlands ;)

i'm sure the US minitour is coming but i'm at a time in my life where I have the time and resources to see PJ In europe and that's something i've wanted to do since i started seeing them in 2000. i'm also not getting any younger. i might do this whole tour (or 3/4 shows) then do a couple of nights of the US tour. the next few days are gonna be full of me playing chess with myself about all of this.

PJ are confirmed for Outlands in San Fran in Aug.

I'm sure that will not be their only show in the US. I'm gonna sit out this 4 show stint in Europe and enjoy EV in Albany & Hawaii this summer, then wait for west coast dates in August/Sept.

I've been to all 4 of those cities. With the exception of Manchester, I would say that they are all very nice cities to visit. That said, there would be some "cooler" places that they could have gone.

I think I will skip these and hope for shows closer to home. Getting Europe for the London and Manchester shows would cost me $1,000 just for the flight. I'll pass.

if you can swing it - GO FOR IT!
i saw pj 5x in italy in 2006......and saw them 3x in europe 2007: london, dusseldorf and nijmegen! and sure, saw pj a few times those years a lot closer to home. ;) thing is, travel and pj go oh so well together....so going off to another country(countries) just helps shape up the itinerary! also, you meet up with sooooo many people hitting up foreign shows, so much moreso than if you simply traveled for a regular vacation. i HIGHLY recommend seeing pj in europe if you can! that said, i am personally sitting out this euro-tour. i am hoping, probably vainly, for some show(s) closer to home - NY - and sure, saving/planning for bigger pj travel trip: OZ!!!

and of the 4 cities - my first choice would be berlin! mostly b/c i've not been there.....but i hear it's a fantastic city. i've lived in london, and saw pj there in 2007......never been to manchester, but yes.....i've seen enough of england. ;) rotterdam would be cool too, but have been to the NL a couple times, tho not there specifically...so yea....BERLIN!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

My mom said Rotterdam was beautiful, i've only been to Amsterdam and loved it. Berlin is awesome... Never been to Manchester, but been to London twice (once for a show)... Expensive yes, weather - alright at that time (i assume)... but don't forget the portal that London is to the rest of Europe... get on an Easy Jet flight to anywhere if you find it so lame.

If you don't go for the cities, go for the people. No offense to anyone, but of the shows I've been to (and at 21, as a BROKE 21-year old, i've been to a decent handful) I've enjoyed the European ones the best, not because of the setlists in particular but the people and the atmosphere. You won't find that in North America.

If you can do it, do it. I was able to do it in 2000, started in Portugal and went through to Wales, it was an amazing trip. Although my gut tells me that if you just want a Pearl Jam fix you would be better off to wait until their mini US tour is announced and then wait until '10 - '11 for them to announce the big World tour which will include more dates in Europe. I have four places left to see Pearl Jam and they are MSG, Italy, Australia, and Red Rocks.

The West coast is a great place to see Pearl Jam, assuming they announce some dates out here that is what I will be doing. I am hopeful they play something in Seattle (not the Gorge) as I haven't seen them there since the end of the 2000 tour. Whatever you do have some fun with it and like many others have said. London is a great town, sure it is a little pricey but show me any big city in the US that isn't. Everytime I visit NYC, San Francisco, LA etc... it isn't a cheap trip.

im pretty sure i'll hit up a few west coast dates but i think i'm gonna do 3/4 euro shows as well. rotterdam will give me an excuse to finally pop my amsterdam cherry...and i've never been to london..gonna check that out and hit up manchester along the way.....hopefully.

Yeah - there is NO way they are not doing a full US tour in or by the end of 2010. I'd say if you absolutely need a PJ fix, buy ACL tickets or wherever they're playing. Was hoping for closer dates to East Coast before then, but we all know they're coming back. Ed dates should hopefully tide us over 'til then.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

  • Here is my take. I predict Pearl Jam at the Gorge August 21-22, 2009.

    Reasoning as follows:
Eddie V solo tour through June and first week of July.
The Gorge is booked the rest of the summer except the weekend of 8/21 and 8/28.
    PJ in Europe through 8/18.
PJ plays Outside Lands festival 8/28.

So that leaves kick-off to US tour at the Gorge on the weekend of 8/21 unless they do a weekday show which isn't completely unheard of.

That's the story I've worked up in my head...pure speculation.
