Man... just incredible stuff.. Travis Meeks is fucking awesome.

Just listened to the first album all through whilst writing some bullshit essay... and it is definitely one of my favourite albums of all time.

I love how it's full acoustic yet doesn't have the usual slow, chilled out vibe of acoustic songwriters. And he plays amazing solos on the acoustic which I LOVE.

Any more love for Travis/Days of the New?

Great album but I always thought Travis was a douchebag. When the band broke up, he did ala Axl Rose and took the name with him which is why the other 2 albums barely got radio play and are almost forgotten about. I personally like Tantric which is Days minus Travis. Great album IMO.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

  • Yeah I know a few Tantric songs they are pretty decent but nothing comes close to the first DOTN album for me.

My favourite Tantric song is "The One" with Kevin Martin from Candlebox on it. I love Candlebox.

Days' first album (Orange) is definitely awesome, got me into the band. But I'm actually more of a fan of the 2nd album (Green). Every time I'm in the mood for some Days of the New I always turn to the Green album. I just love the progression Travis made.

I saw them in concert last year and I have to say it was up there with one of the best concerts I've been to. It was unlike any other experience. They played in a small club and I was right in front of the stage. Travis has such a unique presence. The band played a mix of acoustic guitar and orchestral pieces, like a cello, and he acted like a conductor to the rest of the band.

Love the Green album...But wish the Days would have all stayed together...But Travis thought he was better than the band...Well he was wrong cause now Tantric is much better than Days now...

  • Just listened through Orange and Green AGAIN

I think this is my new favourite work music. I can't believe I forgot how much I loved this stuff.

My favourite DOTN song? "Now" from Orange, amazing acoustic guitar masterpiece.

Travis is a prick. He ruined a band that could have been great.

Spot on! I love the first album. It's acoustic but still heavy as hell! Great drumming on it too. They could've been huge but I think things like the Metallica support slot went to Travis' head!

nice, will have to see if I can find a copy cheaper from elsewhere :)
  • Imagine if this guy could keep it together without the ego, addictions, etc.  Amazing voice, great band, and killer songs before he was 20 years old. Hope he can make a comeback someday.

I'm in a couple fan groups on facebook. someone posted a message "from the man himself" about some stolen equipment and such. I checked out his profile, and he had 2700+ friends, which told me he accepts friend requests from fans. so I friended him. he then sent me a message on messenger. so we started chatting. he said he hopes to perform again soon. I asked him about Purple, and he said "a bunch of it leaked online" and I told him I knew that, and he said he's thinking of releasing it as "just acoustic and vocals, not sure yet". he said "I would have liked to release the purple material where I could have made a profit from it but it didn't work out that way. at least I'm not broke and I don't have to do other work now". not sure what he meant by that

I was pretty shocked he messaged me, which immediately made me think it was a fake profile. but the amount he engaged and he was saying he wanted to see if I was real since he gets so many requests from fake profiles and such.

I really hope he continues to write, record and release music. That is a seriously talented dude!

Each of those first three albums are better than the last, IMO. He really grew as a songwriter and composer during that time period and it was a shame when his music had to take a back seat to the other forces in his life.

I have read some things about him making some decisions that were pretty shady and having business dealings that weren't particularly wholesome but when he was at the top of his music game, he gave the world some really incredible material.
If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV
