I'm thinking of getting one as early as tomorrow, If I can get out of the remaining 23days of my stupid contract with my stupid phone from the stupid mobile company.

So to my original question. Are Iphones good or bad?

Have you had any problems?

the phone is good- but the network sucks, especially in major cities. Too many people with Iphones clogging the system> the infrastructure was not developed enough to handle the load.

edit: maybe where you are the 3G network is better- when I was in Europe, it was ok. Maybe its just a US issue

Reception on mine is fine. Really don't have a problem with that. Good or bad depends on what you're going to use it for. If you just want to make calls, it's probably too much money to spend. I would say if you want to use it for work or are doing a lot of emailing, there are much better options. Some of the apps are pretty cool, again, if you are going to use them. The camera is decent at best. Internet works great. Overall, I really like mine. It's not near as fragile as I thought is was going to be. Mine has hit the ground several times and it's still ticking and I have had it a long time.

I would recommend waiting to get one. There are heavy rumors that there will be some changes announced during the WorldWide Developers Conference in early June, with improvements to the battery and camera being among the rumored features. I owned one for a month, gave it a good test drive, and I ended up returning it because I like a smaller phone. With a decent case on the phone, it is quite heavy. The current camera only works in well-lit conditions and was quite fuzzy. The software is pretty awesome, if you don't mind spending extra bucks for the good titles. Typing on the phones virtual keyboard is actually very good if you were worried about that part.

+1 I love it....thats not to say it doesnt piss me off sometimes but overall its been a revelation for me..use it far more than any other phone I've owned. If there are software problems with it, there will usually be an update fairly soon after to fix it 8-)

i would def wait to get a new one for one simple reason...the ability to send multi media messages...i think that 's the one thing that bugs me the most about the phone...not being able to send or recieve picture messages

another option that you should think about is just buying a current refurbished phone...i believe read that you can get the refurbed 16gig for $150...When the new phone eventually comes out you can just update the phone you have with the current firm ware update and you'll be good to go..

Good. Very good. Own a first gen, very happy with it in spite of the slower (EDGE) speeds. I'm thinking I'll upgrade to the next gen version when my contract is up at the end of the year. I'd like to go back to Verizon for their coverage, hopefully those rumors of them opening it up to other carriers next year will come true.

If you own a mac, it really is seamless the way it integrates with contacts/calendars/etc. One of my favorite parts of it.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

    I got one yesterday.

I had trouble getting out of this shitty company called 3. I have had bad service since day one, the phone was shit and at 13 months when it broke they told me repairing it had to come out of my own pocket. I missed the 12month warranty by a month. On the weekend it broke. It just kept turning itself off every time I activated the key pad. I have 23 days remaining on it, and despite a useless phone, they are still making me pay to exit out of the contract early. 23 fucking days. I have paid over $60 a month for this phone, that has not delivered good service to me and they are still making me pay for exiting this early. They can fuck off!!!

On the bright side, I signed up with optus on a $49 cap which includes $350 worth of calls and texts and 250MB of download. Plus I have bought an extended warranty, insurance plus I'm paying a bit extra for a 16GB. So far so good.

    Thanks for the advice people.
