General Tour Poster Question

I've never bought a PJ poster (or any show's poster for that matter) but after my last PJ show (Tampa '08) I tried to buy one at the show and the concession people told me they were already sold-out.

I was just reading through a thread on the expressobeans forum and I got a bit confused because it sounds like there are actually several different types of the "Pearl Jam Tampa 08 Ames" poster.

From what I can gather there are 3 different types for this show:
- the poster that's available at the actually show which is unsigned and not numbered.

- Then there's the one that I guess was once later available for Ten Club mbrs - unsigned but I don't know if they were numbered or not.

- And I think there's one that may have been available on the Ames Bros. website - whether signed or numbered I don't know.

If I understand correctly sometimes the Ames Bros. will re-print posters (which I think are generally called version ____ - but to my knowledge there's only one version available for this show).

is this anywhere near correct or am I way off base? I honestly haven't a clue how this works or how the Ames Bros. do it.

thanks in advance for any info.

You are not way off base.

They usually print the 1st Edition and sell those at the show. And 10 Club sells this same edition to members directly from the Ten Club.

And the Artist, in your example Ames Bros., then sells an Artist Print that is signed and numbered. AKA A/P edition.

Those are usually the only ones that are signed.

But there are quite a few other factors. There is sometimes 2nd Edition, although I don't think very often with the new Pearl Jam posters.

Then there are sometimes a "scratched and dented" sale. These are posters that did not meet the standards of the printer, but are still kicking around and sold.

There has been an over printed sale OV, for posters that were over printed and forgotten about.

There can also be copies that were given directly to the Printer. These can be unsigned, and signed, but not numbered, or specially numbered as Printer copies like 1-8 or something.

I'm sure I'm missing quite a few.... but the main ones the 1st and A/P are the best chances of grabbing one.
  • I imagine the A/P posters are naturally more expensive. Outside of being signed & numbered - are they any different (e.g. printed on different material)? As a collector do you (people) tend to choose the A/P editions over the standard ones?

I couldn't find the poster on the Ames Bros. site - is there a way to find out how many prints were made?

    Wilds,
Thanks a million. You couldn't have explained it any better. (I really appreciate it)
