Sennheiser CX300 vs Etymotic ER6i

Okay i want to get some decent sounding headphones. I'm looking to get ear canal headphones or something of a hybrid between earbuds and ear canal.

I have been looking at a lot of them and I have a couple that seem to get the kind of reviews i want. I don't need the phones to be bass heavy but i want them to have a decent punch. I really want the mids and highs to be as close to crystal clear as possible. I'll be using them with my ipod without an amp.

I also would like to spend under 100$.

Anyone have any experience with the Etymotic ER6i or the Sennheiser cx300? Can you share? Even better have you had both and can you compare?

I found the Sennheiser's at amazon for like 28 bucks and the Etymotic for 76 so there is about a 50 dollar difference. I guess my biggest question is are the Etymotic's worth THAT much extra money.

Also any other suggestions for decent caliber headphones under 100 bucks?

My roomate has the bose and they sound good, but all the reviews i read seem to think these two are better and less expensive.

Thanks,

So i found the Sennheiser's on some fly by night website for 18 bucks w/ free shipping. If they actually get to me i'll be happy. :D

I figure if i check them out and don't like them they can become my work out headphones. They will surely be better then the stock ipod phones i'm using now and for 18 bucks that is not bad.

Still open to hearing any reviews anyone may have to decide if i want to get the etymotic too.

From the lack of response though i think i'm speaking a foreign language to you all

    Good deal you found.
    I haven't found a comfortable pair of in-ear phones in 15 years.
Right now I have these: http://www.trittontechnologies.com/products/TRIGA611.htm, which are massive overkill for both the price you're looking for and the functionality, but I use them for what they're intended for.
Right now for music at work (Hip!) I have a cheap little set of...let me see...Philips, a brand I like. They were on sale for $20, I think, at the time. They're now 9.99 regular so I obviously took the cheap route and deserve what I got, I guess (and by this I mean I can only wear them for a little while before my ears get sore; the sound quality is adequate).

I see they have a $200 set of Dr. Dre in ear buds. Is it just me or does it seem like you'd have to be retarded to think that is worth it?

200 bucks is a bit out there.

I'm actually worried now because i found articles online about knock off Sennheiser CX300's being sold.

I have a pretty big concern that i may be getting a pair... :( I am cursing myself now if it looks too good to be true it probably is. If i can determine they are fake i'll do anything in my power to bring that little website to it's knees.

I've already sent an email to sennheiser inquiring about it.

Oh by the way thanks for the info those tritons look nice, but just not the style i'm looking for.

The Trittons are really good, but they're a waste of money for just music. Not that they would sound bad, cause they sound awesome, but they're surround sound headphones, and do the job nicely.
