Try second hand.
I bought a good one from a used goods store called Cash Converters here in Oz!
$140!
It is a proper DJ turntable, heavy which means its good!
Direct drive!

Everything I've read says don't get direct drive, for listening. Direct drive are recommended for dj'ing, but I'm pretty sure they are louder than their belt driven counterparts.
I just got a Denon, for around $150. Has the internal preamp. It's not the best, but you definitely get plenty of the vinyl effect from it.
