Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
Butt-head: Well, they both suck.

Having seen a whole bunch of covers, I'm just gonna say, screw the covers, and watch Leonard Cohen do the original which just blows everyone clean out of the water.

With all due respect to Leonard for writing such a beautiful song, Buckley owns the song.

I might change my mind if Jeff had the chance to do all the other verses Leonard throws in to the song. Having seen both live, Leonard wins. Maybe because Leonard is a lot fresher, but the man just SCREAMS brilliance. Except he'd be too classy to scream.

gotta go with jeff too... also heard a hometown guy who sounds quite a bit like jeff do a great cover a few years back... ill try to see if its online somewhere... shame that the song has been used so commercially and covered so frequently that its not as powerful to me anymore

You saw Jeff live... lucky bugger! I've seen/heard Leonard's Hallelujah live and, whereas he IS brilliant, it doesn't give me the goosebumps/tingles Jeff's cover does.
