lost thoughts in the cemetary

The grass seed on your grave is still scattered in the dirt
The sun and the rain have yet to perform their magic
The gray skies of disbelief still cloud us all
This loss is so great...the healing has yet to begin

Your passing was so perfectly poetic and instant
A better death you could not have asked for
Those sins from a war of decades ago were washed away
By the tears of joy in holding your grandchildren

The ones who you have left behind will teach those kids
All the lessons you have passed down over the years
Lessons about embracing and accepting those for who they are
And helping them be what they aspire to be

For they could be gone tomorrow

I left your widow yesterday
She is still crying and in shock
Trying to come to grips with the loss of her love
A life without you she never expected
I love to turn you on
