IS AMAAAZING! once the vocals stop, and those drums kick in and the band just goes into this huge fast pased heavy jam session until the end, my whole body just goes wild. that has got to be the greatest outro ever. i want to see habit performed live so bad, just to experience that part with a crowd. everyone probobly goes insane during that song. it's so perfect.

  • Just listened to the Boston 03 version...kick fucking ass!!!
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?
  • agreed, one time i was riding around with a friend that is not really into rock music and Habit was playing in my car, during the outro my friend was amazed by mike's guitar playing and he said something like "man that dude is going crazy." also, you know how the track stops but you can still hear that mike isn't finished, that kinda sucks, they should have let him keep going.

What a song.... I need to hear this one live ;)
  • I have to admit, i'm not a big fan of the song itself. But the outro....well it's just about one of the baddest fuckin' moments in a song ever. Turn that bad boy up loud! Its worth listening to the whole song just to get to the outro.

Pearl Jam are bad mother-fuckers :)

true that! not only does mike shine, but jeff goes pretty sick too. and of course when those drums kick in, we're rockin. the really may just be my favorite outro of all time. normally the songs you get chills from are the really emotional songs. this song is just a rocker, but that part is SO fucking good i still get chills.

    Yep.

I generally don't like the song Habit, but that Outro is incredible live!

I was gonna say. It took far too many posts on this thread to mention Mr. Ament and his wonderful bass.

  • i think it was the merriweather 2000 show that i first was BLOWN AWAY by this. sonic youth was supposed to open but something happened to someone in the band's family, i think, so they never opened. but PJ came out and played a pretty intense show -- especially the outro to Habit. i remember them starting the outro as usual ... and then slowly coming together at the center of the stage and just jamming in a huddle. it was like they were there alone -- just playing for themselves. playing to get over whatever crisis was happening for their friend. it was an amazing moment.

it is mind-bendingly awesome, and prob my fave part on No Code now. along with songs like rearviewmirror, insignificance, they pretty much rule everyone at the fast rock balls out outro. it's something i miss from the last 2 records. i found out later after Dallas '03 it was on the setlist, but was scratched. i was soooo close to getting it! hope you get your chance to see the band. it was nearly 3 years after i got into them hardcore that i finally got to see a show. i had to suffer for wussing out on some '00 shows.

Hmm... it's a good outro but I'd have to say my favorite part is when the songs kicks back in after Ed says "speaking as a child of the 90's..." Gets me every time... I always feel like jumping around at that part.

the outro is the best, but they don't play it the same live anymore. It doesnt sound like the album or like it did live back in 95 or 96. I think they stopped playing it like that in 1998.
