How am I supposed to turn my friends on to PJ when they continue to play a song like that!

Don't even get me started on Last Kiss!

    HATE is an awful strong word.
    Would I rather hear a different song on the radio? Yeah.
    If could hear 3 other songs at a live show other than daughter? Yeah.
    Is it because it is a cliche to say "daughter" is your favorite song? Yeah.
    Just like "Betterman", do you fast-forward until the 2:45 mark just to hear the tag rather than the entire song? Yeah.
    Are there better PJ songs? Yeah.
    Still dont hate the song; it's better than any Creed song. :D

    Daughter was amazing on the 2000 tour. They took it to all kinds of directions with creative interplay and tags. Nowadays, I kinda agree its a showstopper, but thats only for me. Its a song many causal fans want to hear.


    Daughter has also turned many people into Pearl Jam. I can tell you that much. When vs came out, daughter was a song reviewers highlighted and the one people were most excitied about.

    It has done its job in the recruiting department thats for sure!

    As for me... I will graciously accept whatever it is that's offered to me. I know it will not last forever and eventually it will all be gone. As for now... I'll accept it.

    What exactly is your point of view? Other then some sort of "frey" that has or has not been crossed all you really expressed was an opinion. An opinion that really has no merit other than being food for fodder for the message board. With that said, I will express my opinion and say that I think daughter is a cool song. Especially when you listen to it within the context of the album. If you would like more of an insight just let me know, and as always, rockon.

    Wow....I was unaware that my "opinion" was not allowed. Maybe I was blinded by all the other "opinions" on the board. It's my understanding that most threads are "message board fodder" or else they would have little business on a "discussion board"

    With that said, I think daughter is an annoying show killer that is played way too often, which is the reason it's a show killer.

    Dude, you are completely allowed to express your opinion...that was my point. But you asked your reader to see your point of view? What is your point of view? You never expressed that. You only shared that you don't like it. Big deal. Tell us why does it annoy you? Is because of the tags you hear live? Tell us why you have come to the conclusion you have about the song. Just because it annoys you doesn't really mean shit if you can't tell us why. Give your reader some insight and at least make your opinion interesting.

    Daughter annoys me for the following reasons:

    1. It kills shows
    2. It's a boring song
    3. It's not played with tags nearly as much
    4. It kills shows when not played with tags

    I'm sorry, man. I feel like I'm picking on you...but, in case you haven't noticed, the set list are always different and there is a ton of thought that goes into each shows set. This is one of the things that makes the greatest band in the world so unique. Now, there are tons of songs that are slow or fast or whatever, but I never think of them as show killers and especially not Daughter. There is an eb and flow to the show, it just can't be WWS or Animal or whatever you think kicks ass all the time. If that was the case we wouldn't get two and half hour long shows. Anyway, my point is Daughter is one of their biggest hits from back in the day and they don't play it all the time live. But when they do I really don't think it's a show killer. It's quite enjoyable, in my opinion. I really don't even see how anyone could consider any song a show killer, except for the "hear's to the state of Mississippi" ed did with tim robbins in L.A.. That I think killed at least the momentum of an otherwise killer fucking time. Gotta get back to work!
