I'm gonna be there in my birthday suit (21st is my b-day)... I may or may not choose to cover that suit, with some something reasonable (a speedo at least). I'm so psyched.
Should the city of Toronto be put on high alert too? Watch out, speedo coming!

Sadly, the great city of Toronto won't be seeing me. :(

Right. And like Hartford 08. People werent expecting much from them night. Especially because is was stuck in between MSG and Boston. Turned out to be the pick of the tour IMO. You never know.

hartford was insane.. maybe the most fun PJ show i've been to.. it's at least high on the list. crazy setlist.. and i was surrounded by a great group of 10 clubbers down on mike's side. t'was an f'n blast.

I went to Hartford and loved the concert. The only downside was being in front of a bunch of people complaining about how they had ten club seats and were so far up. (I was just happy to be there and so was the couple next to me.) The people behind me looked like a group of older (late 40's; Not Old just older then me) who had just bought the membership for the club seats.

the city of toronto will not be disappointed. i look damn fine in a speedo. and just for you j-money, i might bust it out in Albany for the EV shows. (so long as i'm wearing the proper "top layers", which are usually used for snow skiing in Alaska, no one will get hurt, including myself.).

Cool, thanks Calum. I will tell you what though. I will go full tilt at the after party!!! We have to get an after party together. Any talk about this? Or are we just going back out to the bars?
OK, i just got home from Red Square. Francis said first of all, Jeanwah, he's sorry he didn't get back to you. Blah, blah, he's had a lot of shit going on. He said he wouldn't mind hearing back from you in an "official" way that you've found another venue... that's more for marketing purpose... he doesn't "expect" anything from you, especially due to his crappy response time. He seemed very genuine in his apology (FWIW).

Along those lines, he's dealing with a tough economy like I had suspected. Therefore, he's ONLY open on nights when he has a booked gig (like tonight, 3 local bands, at least one of which sounded pretty good... a fusion of Jason Mraz and KoL actually... ok in concept, but they could have been better musicians, IMHO).

HOWEVER, he said if I could contact him with a guaranteed minimum of 40 people for an after party he'd host. I suppose it's own thread would be in order. We'd have to drum up the 40 ppl in the next 2 weeks (3 max) as he wanted 2 weeks notice, but would take one if I was close but needed a bit more time.

Min 40 people, both nights. If we had to make a choice (on only one night). Tuesday night was better for him, but doesn't really matter. He didn't say it, but I think based on % and # of people that will buy a beer, that's pretty much his break-even point.

I did check it out tonight, and noticed (hadn't noticed before)... the Holiday Inn express is STUPID close to Red Square... and you'd have to pass Red Square from the Palace to get to your hotel.

Francis knows that we'd be getting there late, and he's cool with that. He probably won't open until later, just for us anyway.

So if there's enough preliminary interest, I'll make a specific thread about this so we can bump up the numbers.
  • I'm not gonna say that I would stay long. But if you need me there for a beer to fill your quota on Night 2, I will most certainly stop by. I just have a long drive back to MA the next day that's all.

I haven't posted in a while, so is the plan still for pre-party at Jillians and is the after party at the Red Square?

Pre-Party for BOTH nights is confirmed at Jillians. 3-6 pm.

After-Party is in the works and NOT CONFIRMED. Red Square is a good location (IMHO) but we need to confirm at least 40 ppl before Francis will open the bar. I'm going to drum up support for this and we'll make a decision based on numbers by the 20th of May or so. If not enough numbers for Red Square, we'll pick a diff location (like going back to Jillians, or Bayou or something like that).

Sorry for the ambiguity. Doin my best over here. :-)

Thanks, we'll keep you in the loop on location, but put you down for night 2. If I put a body in the bar that buys a beer, I think that's all he's lookin for.

We could try and have the after party at the Lark Tavern if the Red Square doesn't work out. I know most of the bartenders there, so I could talk to them. I'm sure I will see them all this weekend, lol. Please please no after party at Jillians or Bayou.

I had no idea what a crumpet was, even though we've been talking about it in this thread.

So for all the other curious "Yanks", I decided to Google it:

    istockphoto_465936_toasting_crumpets.jpg

    It's a freekin English Muffin!

I'm so disappointed now! I thought it was something sweet and yummy-pastry-ish! :|
