Speaking out is Unpatriotic atleast it was 8 years ago.

It's entertaining to watch Republicans and Conservatives beat their chest and wave their flag as they stand proud to speak out against the government. Only 8 years ago there were millions of Americans doing the same thing and they were labeled as unpatriotic and guilty of treason by the Republican Party. Now it's ok. Go figure. Maybe if they actually stood up against the Bush Administration instead of acting like a bunch of sheep we probably wouldn't be in this mess.
A good compromise, a good piece of legislation, is like a good sentence; or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say, 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.'

the right wing has some legitimate grievances. i was making fun of the tea bag parties at first, and there is sa lot of hypocrisy in how Fox and co have covered the protests, but there are some serious issues that should be dealt with. and mass protests may be the ONLY way to change the system.

the internal checkpoints within the United States-some of these are 100 miles inside the borders, are illegally detaining and searching cars and people. and in some cases beating people.

there is a video, i can't find it now, that is about 30 minutes long. a guy refuses to be searched, eventually he is released. its great. he rails on the border patrol agents the entire time. "This is the United States of America, the constitution is the highest law. Are you saying the 4th amendment doesn't apply here?"

eventually the higher ups call down and tell the agents to release the guy. because he is right, they have no authority to search him or his car.

    this guy wasn't so lucky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUzd7G87 ... popt00us03

If these illegal checkpoints are part of the tea baggin agenda(funny thing though, from all the coverage of these protests, i've heard very little about why they are protesting) then i'm all for them.

But yeah. talk about hypocrisy. Fox labeled all the anti war protesters unpatriotic and traitors. now the protesters are true americans? mmm. Definitely depends on what is being protested. War is ok, apperently, but government spending is a huge threat to the entire human race.

Amen! The sight of a few million bodies in one place (DC) is what it's going to take, not one million people who agree 100% on everything with each other. You'll be hard pressed to find 100 people in the world that can do exactly that.

commy you always bash fox news yet you can never give any examples of what you accuse them of. I dont mean going to a web sit like move on,or daily kos,or media matters. I have been watching fox for almost 10 yrs now.and yes I admit they do lean right, but so what they still give the facts and there's no disputing that, besides all the other net works lean left or far left and yet I don't hear you accusing them of being bias. It's funny how you are always for free speech and descent until it's something you disagree with. One of the reasons why they don't give much coverage to the far left or FAR RIGHT is cos they act likeabunch of goddamn fools. When did fox label anti war protesters unpatriotic or traitors ? It seems you like to take things out of context.

Has anyone ever said or felt the following,
"You support the President... right or wrong... in time of War".
"If America is so terrible... then, why do you go live in (name of some country that is in conflict with America at that particular time)?".
    ...
    If you have... then,
Are you supporting President Obama? Because, we are still at war... doesn't that support during war thing still hold true?
Also, if you hate America so much because she is taxing too much of your hard earned pay... why aren't you moving to some tax haven in the Caribbean or Middle East?
    ...
It's pretty frustrating... trying to explain yourself to such moronic reasoning and feeble intellect, ain't it? Welcome to how i felt from 2003 to present.

That video that you couldn't find, I'm not sure I understood you. Was that at a checkpoint inside the US and not some checkpoint between Canada or Mexico? Either way, that would be and interesting video to watch if you ever manage to find it.

its a checkpoint INSIDE the US. 100 miles from a border. the legality of the checkpoints was upheld by the supreme court-which only says that you have to stop at them.

the guy refuses to answer their questions, refuses to let them search his car, and refuses to provide any ID. in fact, the only thing he does do is stop, which is what is required by the supreme court ruling. in the end he drives away.

You know what is really weird. I get home and my brother starts talking about something very similar to this. You might be interested in checking out these links regarding checkpoints inside the US:

But, is that, leaving America during the hard times, Patriotic? It's like when Corporations leave America because they do no want to pay taxes... to the people that have helped them grow during the good times. How Patriotic are those corporations that abandon us... in the name of higher profits?
I understand the feeling... but, it is much better to stay and fight for the things you believe in... to change the country by using the systems we have in place... to effect a change from within. Dissent is good. Blind alligence to a political party is not Patriotism... it is partisanism. There's a great line in a song that says, "If you hate something, don't you do it, too.". Don't become the protestors you hated for the past 8 years. Use your ballot to speak out... use your right to speak out against this government... regardless of what Political Party holds the reigns... if you feel they are doing greater harm to your nation. Partisan bickering does no good execpt to the old men who pull all the strings. Don't the a puppet.
There is no "Taxation without Representation". You ARE Represented. You can start by voting against the one who Represents you, regardless if there is a (D) or an (R) next to his/her name. Vote with your mind, not what the Party or television pundits tell you. You are an American. Politiciand and television are the greatest source of lies out there. Don't buy into their interests... look out for our best interests... your and mine.

Fox does lie. i can't remember what it was exactly but i remember Hillary Clinton said something and fox went crazy saying it was inappropriate and asked the viewers to call in or email them and let them know how we felt...So i called AND emailed saying i thought they were blowing it out of proportion...An hour or so later fox declared that not a single person who called or emailed them disagreed with them and what Hillary said when obviously i did twice.

Also the whole bullshit about Kerry saying he should be elected because more foreign leaders liked him...even AFTER the audio tape of what kerry said was released and it was shown he didn't say that Fox STILL pushed that lie all the way until the election.

    There's plenty of other examples.

I liked how in 2000 their stance was Gore was wrong to bring up that Florida state law said there HAD to be a recount and to just get over it and agreed with Bush fighting it in court....then when it was time for the governor recall in California and some people went to court to stop it Fox went crazy about how you can't use federal courts to circumvent state laws and how against everything we stand for it was....

Touche...I should've been a bit clearer. I already have the answer, but to clarify for your sake, I meant the difference between a checkpoint ON the border, or a checkpoint further in on just US soil. There is a difference.

    Hehehehe
    ______________

I was watching the McCain townhall.
Somebody said Obama was unpatriotic. They claimed he didn’t care about the constitution. McCain defended him. People started boo-ing.
    WTF?
This went on in the campaign too. McCain would always get them to stop. I respected that he did that.
That kind of ugly crowd had to have helped loose votes for McCain. I know it certainly didn’t help persuade me to vote for him.
