Neil Young - Fork In The Road

I'm a bit suprised not having seen any discussion on this album, or maybe i just missed the thread.
I picked it up in the store today and Iam listening to it. Only on track 2 so i can't really comment much so far but i wondered what you guys thought of it? Also the only stuff i've listened to is Live Rust and few albums before hand so will be interesting to see where he has got to now.
Anyone know what band he will use when he tours in Europe late this year?

I enjoy Fork in the Road. It has a good straightforward sound for the most part. Something I would expect Neil to play in a bar with buddies.
Sorry Neil your past that part of your career where you can show up in the studio throw some things down and it comes out like magic.
Some of the songs have some potential but they need to be fleshed out. Some of the lyrics are embarressing.
In my opinion this is like one of his bad 80's records. One to be forgotten. for me it is the worst album he has put out in quite some time.
I think he needs to play with new musicians because i don't think anyone he is playing with now has the balls to challenge him or at least inspire him to take the time to write/finish a good song.

I have to disagree, but I'm going to defend Neil almost the majority of the time. I'm not saying you're wrong, i'm not calling this album one I can't stop listening to, but it's far from horrible, in my opinion.
Also most of Living with War was just thrown down and I like that album quite a bit.
He has a history of being criticized, I think After the Gold Rush and On the Beach were both criticized when they came out but received the praise they later deserved. [Not saying Fork in the Road will follow this though, haha.]
Zoso, I haven't read any posts by you or CBC lately, how is the whole legal situation going? Also I noticed your location is Jersey now, does that mean bad luck for the OZ plans?
If i ever like Fork in the Road as much as i like On the Beach I'll fly to where ever you are and kiss your ass
To each their own and i'm usually very defensive of neil's stuff too an i usually see the bright spots, but not on this album. I liked LWW and I know how neil can get when he gets something in his head he has to get it out, but i thought that album could have benifited some from a little more time being spent with it. Although i do like LWW a lot more then i like Fork.
I really just think he needs to surround himself with other musicians to spur him on. Get him out of his comfort zone a little and try to get those creative juices going.
I did like the movie he made of him driving around in the lincvolt singing the songs. I thought that was cool

Hehe, and ditto!
Hell, if I ever find songs that can give On the Beach and Ambulance Blues a run for their money, I'll kiss your ass.
Seeing Ambulance Blues live was one of the best live concert moments I've ever had.
