Okay here is some information I found doing a little online research about the Embassy Suites Galleria. First off it is right across the street from the theater so walking is easily an option. If you choose to pay for your room up front then they have a rate of $135.15. THe rate I pulled up for the Renaissance was $149 from the link off the Cobb site. The $135.15 rate is for a 2 room suite with 2 double beds. Becasue the room is a suite there is aslo a pull out couch. You could comfortably sleep 3 in a room with everyone getting a bed but even 4, 5 or 6 sharing beds.

I found a link to check on pricing for groups. If you search for 10 rooms a night the rate drops down to $109 a night but to reserve them online you have to pay for them up front. Not sure if anyone wants to call about getting a block of rooms and having people call to book on their own and pay individually.

I am still likely going to do priceline or hotwire but again have to wait to make sure it does not look like my wife is going to go into labor those three days.

Just some more information to digest.

You rock, U2gator- thanks! Please let us know what happens with Priceline. Are you going to try for only 4 star hotels?

On most sites I have checkd the only 4 star is the Renaissance. On a couple of sites they also list the Hyatt Regency Suites and the Hilton Marietta Conference Center and Resort as 4-star as well. Betterbidding only shows the Renaissance though as a 4-star.

I'll throw in one more option to consider. Priceline and hotwire also list the Perimeter area in their searches. Both have 4 star hotel listings available in that area. A quick search shows that the only likely 4-star in that area is the W Atlanta Perimeter. Hotwire lists a 4-star available in that area for only $64 a night. Betterbidding shows that he only likely match that this hotel could be is the W. Someone also posted that they did this booking for a trip this month and it was the W and the features listing is the same for the hotel currently listed at $64. Mapping out the W to the Cobb shows a distance of just under 7 miles. At that nightly rate and the short distance bewteen the hotel and the theater you may also want to throw that area into consideration when looking for a place to stay.

Sorry to add more confusion to the whole thing. It sounds like most everyone on this thread is trying to stay at the same place. If someone goes with priceline or hotwire and gets a good rate (say below $100) for a 4-star hotel then I would think everyone else would go ahead and do the same and then cancel their original rooms. I would rather save the money over anything else.

  • Just booked the Renaissance. Partner and I are flying in on the 24th from Boston around 1pm. Decided to rent a car to avoid the hassle of taxi (found a great price).
We could possible carpool a few people to save on taxi costs (it's only a compact though). We arrive around 1pm on the 24th and leave around 2 pm on the 25th. PM if you want to see if we can hash something out.

I will pay for your ticket if you donate something to the wishlist pre-party.

Someone will let you stay with them and if worse comes to worse, you can crash with us....

You just have to drive up, pay for your gas and food (Race Can't be Won has plenty of spirits already packed so you don't have to buy drinks). This maybe the last time to see a solo show... I would't pass it up.

I joined this late but looks like Renaissance it the place. Rooms are $149 per night but they told me it is within walking distance of show and resturants.

    Is this accurate?
