Song hopes for Ed's mini-tour!

ok, so not to ask for MORE, but thought it might be fun to suggest or discuss some possible new songs/covers that Ed might throw out this summer.

We got a lot of nifty (yes i just used that word) ones last year (blackbird-my fav-hope it returns, cat stevens stuff, neil stuff etc) and maybe there will be some new ones. Election inspired perhaps? economy inspired? fanclub lottery frenzy inspired?

so my suggestions:

1) 'the golden state' ...by john doe and kathleen (i think...unless they covered it from someone else). I'm thinking Ed and Elisa-Jane (if she joins Liam again) could pull it off!

2) anything we haven't heard before:)

3) footsteps

woo it's gonna be fun!

ps. i wonder if release could somehow be done solo? maybe with an audio track? straight accapella (sp?)? i wonder if it would even work.
pps. oh i hope arc returns too. hell i hope it all returns. lol.

    There is actually an official release of The Golden State by Eddie and Corin Tucker (I think), so that one seems quite possible... Footsteps would be awesome. Oh, and Lukin :)

    I was just listening to the Golden State EP this morning and thinking how awesome it would be if Ed rocked this one in Albany. Personally, I hope he varies the setlist a little (maybe a preview of some new PJ tunes?), but I would also be completely content with seeing the same show he played last year in NYC.

    Pretty good chance you will get those, Arc is amazing.
    I am hoping for some differnt cover songs, maybe a new original, but not too many PJ tunes, even Ed said he was staying away from those last tour.

    Hurt, Long Road, Watchtower (w/ Lam Finn), Old Man (w/ Liam Finn), Blackbird, Parting Ways, Arc, Thumbing My Way, Lukin and No Ceiling. Am I asking too much for the Philly Thursday show :D

    Unless Ed grows 4 more arms and another set of legs, I don't see him playing stuff like Footsteps and Long Road anytime soon.

    First of all I got ten club for night 2 in Albany(rollover) so I am hoping for any song to be played that night :!: I'll be hoping for Fatal, went to both Nyc shows last year so the same set would be amazing as well.

    I've never heard Around the Bend live so that's what I'm personally hoping for... Dead Man as well... and I really want to see Arc again (saw it in 03)... Another would be Fatal.

    Other than that, I'm a huge fan of the Harold & Maude soundtrack so anything off of that would be great... Trouble, Don't Be Shy, If You Want To Sing Out..... would also love to hear him cover Father & Son by Cat Stevens... such a great song...

    I've always wanted to hear Ed do a cover of I've Just Seen A Face as well.

    how about Something - the Beatles song. There is a demo released on the 3rd anthology album with just George doing the song by himself with just a guitar and a sitar like effect on it. I would love to see Ed do this one.

    ooh yeah, fatal would be great...as would parachutes! can't believe i forgot that one. Never heard it live and the guitar is fairly straightforward so i think it could be done nicely. Such a pretty tune.

    oh another great suggestion from the red mosquito board is 'tonight you belong to me' on uke that he's done once or twice. so pretty as well. Ed and Elisa could hit that up i bet.
    i wonder if some of our suggestions ever make it to ed. that would be pretty cool if so. just to know it was suggested and perhaps thought over.

    oh dear sweet bejeebus and all that is holy...please, please.......NOT parachutes. forgive me stone, i just can't stand the music. lyrics are beautiful, but ugh...the music. :oops: :evil: :twisted:

    edit....and yes, for i'm open....? i've heard it *played* 2x i think now....but really, it wasn't totally played....or at least, sung/spoken. i'd totally LOVe to hear it in it's ENTIRETY...ya know, the whole spoken word part....ya know, the whole atop crumpled sheets.......decides to dream up a new self for himself....that whole bit. i am kinda partial to it. ;) would LOVE that!

    that would make my year. i saw paul do it on a uke in 2002 and that made that year for me!

    i saw him play lukin in vancouver last year - awesome. for those of you who haven't seen him solo yet, i think Hard sun is as good as it gets (although he won't be solo on that one). Thumbing my way would be cool, but Nothingman would be unreal
