the show of theirs i saw back in '98 in Santa Barbara, CA is & will forever be one of the best performances i've ever seen. both In/Casino/Out and Relationship of Command are in my top 10 albums of the teenage years

most of you are probably more familiar with Cedric & Omar from The Mars Volta than you are you with their work in ATDI, but i cannot recommend checking out these two albums enough

nice! Relationship of Command will always hold a special place for me b/c i bought it while i was studying in Greece & every time i listen to it it brings back some awesome memories

as for me seeing them it was just dumb luck on my part. i was visiting a friend who lived in Berkeley, CA and one night a friend of hers called and told her about this showcase happening down in Santa Cruz that we HAD to go to. i had never even heard of ATDI before but we went, saw 2 other bands play and then ATDI came on the stage...

    oh. my. god.

i hadn't seen anything like it before. Cedric looked like he was have a rhythmic seizure on stage, Omar & the rest of the band were going absolutely nuts and still playing their instruments flawlessly (at least that's how seemed to me). i still remember hearing the first notes of Napoleon Solo and just standing there on the floor, mouth agape as they proceeded to absolutely melt my face...

~11 years later, i still have the shirt i bought that night & wear it all the time 8)

    It is awesome!

I made a list of my favorite albums of the 2000's around christmas last year and that album was pretty high on it: http://www.zombiechatter.com/page/2/?s=best+albums+

Cedric and Omar are still pretty ridiculous. I think Omar has cut it back a bit, but I seen TMV about a year ago and Cedric was like Roger Daltrey on acid. He was just everywhere, and threw a fucking trash can into the pit after grabbing it from close to the stage.

Cedric has a strong hatred of mosh pits... i know ATDI would talk about how they wanted people to dance their asses off but would prematurely scold people for moshing, saying that they didn't want people to get hurt and they didn't want people in the crowd to cause pain to each other

Yeah, those two albums are great. I actually like these guys more that The Mars Volta...never got to see them live, but I have seen TMV live opening for A Perfect Circle and RHCP...they kicked total ass opening for APC, but for RHCP it wasn't so good....but I was drunk, so....
