because ticket brokers know they will get tickets to the show through their shady ways. pretty effing pricey!
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Plus some venues offer season tickets. So any broker that has those will already know their seat numbers etc.

EXACTLY... how many times do we have to go through the process of buying a season ticket package for a venue or venues and then reselling some or all seats to recoup costs.....

I was wondering the same thing when I checked for the public sale dates and all these tickets at ridiculous prices came up for every venue and show. IMO these places suck more than common scalpers.

  • if it makes you feel any better, those tickets for sale are the last rows in the top level. seats in the very far back.

I don't know if it makes me feel better though that they are asking that much.

  • They only say its the last row, because they don't actually KNOW what seat it is yet, and they guarantee a similar or "better" seat upon sale. I know this is because I'm one of the idiots that bought tickets off one of those broker-type sites last summer for EV. I paid NOWHERE NEAR that much (i'm not THAT crazy/stupid), but I did pay way too much regardless.
My strategy was: buy from a broker before public sale so I was guaranteed tix, then try through ticketmaster, and sell the extras, so that in the end i'd break even... Well, I got a single seat in the fifth row through ticket master. 5th row was on those sites for like $800 (insanity). Friends and family told me I was crazy not to sell it for that much, so out of curiosity, I called one of those broker places to see how much they'd give it to me for each ticket. It was a week before the show and the answer was: "I wouldn't give you more than face value at this point because I can't get rid of the tickets I have at this point. This Eddie Vedder show is not nearly as hot a ticket as we all thought, so sorry, I don't want you fifth row ticket or your last row ticket." For real! I was SO relieved because I did not want to give up that seat. Not to mention, all the ticket prices on those sites were kind of plummeting at that point (if I had just waited, I could have gone for way cheaper). I ended up selling the extra to a friend for face value, and losing a pretty hefty chunk of change on the deal, but hey, I deserved it ... I made a mistake, but I only ripped off myself, AND I saw Eddie play solo from the fifth row, and it was worth it. :D
