'Rough Guide to Playlists' Book - No Pearl Jam!?

Was in a local book store here in Melbourne Australia the other week and came across a book called 'Rough Guide to Playlists' Book. Basically its a book that lists as many singers, bands, genres as possible and gets a music writer to list their top 10 choices from a band / singer to download. Overall the book lists 5,000 songs in total that you should add to your ipod. Under each song chosen was a quick little synopsis of the song. Really good stuff.

Flicking through and as always went straight to 'P' and there was no Pearl Jam!?

There were other notable omissions such as tool and queens of the stone age. Uncle Neil and The Who were there.

I started thinking? Why Not? any clues? This book was quite extensive!

Then i thought what would my ten choices be:
