Hey guys,

I haven't posted much since the board change over, but I wanted to let everyone know that I'm organizing a satellite walk in conjunction with the Tennessee Chapter, based in Nashville, on Saturday, June 6th from 10am-12pm in Martin, TN.

Last year, we raised over $2,000 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America during our inaugural event in Martin.

I know times are tough for everyone, but I would certainly love and appreciate your support in helping me meet my team goal of $1,000 (I have a personal goal of $125). If you can give $1 or $20, my thanks go out to you.

Mike has inspired me to do what I can on a local level to raise awareness about these chronic and painful conditions.

To donate to my team, The Rolling Crohns , click here.

*All monetary donations are tax deductible and can be claimed on your 2010 tax forms.

Thank you in advance for reading this post and for your consideration!

Cheers,

Brent (PBM)

    That's a great team name.
It is time to admit that we used to rock like hurricanes. It is time to run for the hills and go round and round. It is time for us to shout at the devil. We've got the right to choose it, there ain't no way we'll lose it, and we're not gonna take it anymore.

Still a couple of months away, but I'd love to hit my goal with all of your help.

Let's help send some kids to Camp Oasis.

CCFA Camp Oasis is a co-ed residential camp program that's mission is to enrich the lives of children with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis by providing a safe and supportive camp community.

I know there are others who are raising funds on the board for similar walks, so while I'd love your donation to come in to my team, I applaud those who are giving!

I am recently diagnosed. Along with a ton of other stuff wrong with my colon health, well really my health totally, colitis has been added to the mix. What an ordeal! There are times I want to rip my intestines out!
I have been feeling better of late. I was in hospital 8 times between last July and November. I stayed about 4 days each time. Thank goodness for insurance!
I quit eating until recently. I only would drink Ensure. It hurt too bad after I ate. I lost 40 lbs.
I have no idea how someone like McCready, for instance, can do a tour, or even a show, feeling like this.
I have gotten on a new drug, only certain docs are licensed to prescribe it, and I call it a miracle drug. My doc said it doesn't work for everyone, but those who do get benefits from it, like me, say its a wonder drug, which I always call it.
We were at the point that docs felt only pain control will be used at this time. The surgeons felt surgery could make things worse. So, I am using this drug. It is used for Heroin addicts, 'cuz it has some opiod properties and helps them kick the habit without such intense withdrawals. Because of the opiod properties, it also works for pain management.
I have found it helps my anxiety, depression, colitis pain, and gives me a sense of well-being.
I am kept comfotable with it. There are slight withdrawals when quitting it, but big deal!
Its not addicting, per se, but 'cuz of the opiod properties, there are slight issues with that part of it. Its way less problematic than other pain meds. Its better than getting nerve blocks or surgery.

They need lots of money in order to find ways to help us people who deal with this daily. That area of your body is its center. When it hurts, all of your body hurts. Hurting is only a small part of the symptoms.

I think of all the people who have been dealing with this for years and years and wonder how they do it. I never want to have to clean out my colon again for their tests. That just aggravates it.
Thanks for getting the word out about fundraisers and the such.

    Heather,

Thanks for sharing your story and I'm glad you are getting some sort of relief. Since the old board closed, we really haven't had an official thread for discussing Crohn's and colitis.

Strangely enough, all the physical limitations and pains don't bother me as much as the mental ones. These conditions really effect your mood and can lead to depression.

We keep hope alive that a cure will be found!

    Cheers,

    Brent

Exactly! That's why this drug they have me on is so great. It takes care of my pain and my emotional crap. It called Suboxone. Its mainly made for heroin addicts to withdrawal from heroin, but it not only helps the pain, it completely removed all of it. And my mood has been better than ever. I spent the past 5 years in a constant suicidal mood. I thought of suicide daily. I have not thought of it once since taking this drug. No anxiety either, which also was daily, all day. I have such a sense of well being! As I said, only certain docs can prescribe it, but in the list of docs I got, there are quite a few.
I can't remember the last time I felt this good.
    Its a wonder drug.
I think people should try it. Talk to the doc about pain management. It takes care of more, but that's what the docs think it is for. The well being part is just a pleasant side effect of it.
I hate all those other drugs. It seems they seem to work, a little, then whammo, I am right back where I started. I have been of this drug since early February.
And hell yeah, who wouldn't be depressed with all this crap, no pun intended.
Actually, I waver from no crap to gallons...lol! Well, maybe not gallons...lol!

Just a bump to the top.

As an added incentive, I will personally write you a thank you note if you donate to The Rolling Crohns.
