  • interesting point. Often wondered this myself. Did they realize they were creating music that would be loved to such an extent as it is? Did it occur to them they were making mindblowing classic flawless albums, album after album?

Much like Pink Floyd, I think they were so completely stoned out of their minds that they didn't realize how amazing the music they were making was, but their combined talent was just too undeniable that it would come out no matter what they did.

If there was one thing the beatles were sure of, it was how brilliant they were.

I think history has shown that McCartney and Lennon were quite arrogant about their writing skills. Probably what landed up breaking up the band.

I can't stand McCartney, I think he's a grade A prick. But The Beatles were great.

Well, if they didn't know what they were doing, they sure got lucky....and thank god. Did you ever hear of all the backwards "masking" that the beatles supposedly have in their songs?? I know a lot of bands have this said about their music, but it seems like the Beatles more than anybody...just youtube it.

Just brought this up because if they didn't know what they were doing, then this would be even more coincidental, you know??

Too much hype, IMO. Also, agreed on the prick thing...he's always come off to me that way. When Harrison died I remember seeing McCartney live on CNN talking about it and he made it seem like the interview, and the subject just wasn't worth his time.

I've always felt George Harrison deserved a little more recognition...but, what do you do?

completely disagree. Check out the Lennon interviews with Playboy a few months before his death. They go through at least 50 to 100 different beatles tunes, one by one, and lennon gives his opinion of the song. The majority of the songs they talk about lennon doesnt just say "its a good one but could have been better", he actually calls them "throwaway songs" or "garbage"

For someone that was "arrogant" its an interesting course to take, calling your own songs "garbage"

Not according to Nick Mason.....Syd may have been stoned.

I think they knew what they were doing but had no clue what they had coming. It doesn't matter how good you are. You can't predict that kind of fame.
  • If there was one thing the beatles were sure of, it was how brilliant they thought they were.

    Corrected ;)
