Scully still is GREAT. 1 man in the booth all these years. Tremendous.

And for NFL Films.. John Facenda made it.

True, but Kalas has done it ever since Facenda died.

I'm just trying to think of who the next Philadelphia announcer they're going to tab to do NFL Films.

    RIP Harry.

  • HK called every single one of Michael Jack Schmidts homeruns 548 of them! Im hoping his son, who is also in the broadcasting field, will get a chance to follow his fathers footsteps in Philly

Yeah, his son is on the Rays broadcast staff. I was complaining last year when the Phils brought in Gary Matthews instead of his son to join the Phils announcing team. But at least Father and Son were together for the World Series last year.

This was truly shocking and upsetting when I heard the news today. Harry is Philadelphia Phillies baseball. I was born in 1980, so I know nothing else as Phillies baseball. I remember has a kid, that warm feeling I got when listening to Harry and Whitey (and yes, Andy Musser or Kent Tekulve when they chimed in ;) )do the games, and just sitting and watching/listening with my dad. I also remember that same feeling, even as an adult now, when coming back home from out-of-town and turning to 1210 on the radio to hear that familiar voice again. Hell, even last week, I was excited to hear him, it meant that spring was here, and that baseball season was back.

I'm sure he and Whitey are both having a cigar right now, and laughing it up.

Rest In Peace Harry, and thank you for introducing me to the greatest game in the world.

Very sad indeed. I was at the home opener at Wrigley today and as expected they had a moment of silence for Adenhart, and then they announced the news about Harry, my buddy and I were both in complete shock. Just a sad day for baseball as it lost a legend today. RIP Harry.

so very sad. I've been a Phillies fan for over 30 years going back to imitating Harry's call as I played whiffle ball in the back yard. It was just so cool to get a hold of one off your buddy and scream out 'that ball's outta here' or thowing the perfect curve ball to strike your buddy out 'struck him on out'. Listening to Harry call a game was so comforting. The voice was so perfect and soothing. Luckily Harry got to call the World Series last year and to get his ring before passing. Phillies baseball will always be different now without Harry. RIP Harry you are still the man!
