a question about old vinyl

I was at my parents house today and noticed in the corner of the basement all of mine & my sister's old albums. My parents would love us to get them out of the house, but my sister & I have no desire to keep them, so we're thinking about selling them.

Any tips on where to go from here? eBay? Used record stores? I have no idea how much any of these are worth, they range from The Muppet Movie to the Sugarcubes to Van Halen to Barbara Streisand.

Just looking for some general tips. Thanks!

if those titles you gave as examples are any indicator, you can run right down to the salvation army and donate them there.

sugarcubes might be worth something to someone, but all the major artists would be better off to be sold as a lot.

You could look up each artist on eBay and see if it's worth it to get rid of them. Keep in mind shipping costs.

Unless you have some real gems, you're probably best off going to a record store and getting rid of everything all at once.

I'd take them to one or two used shops (and not a salvation army or goodwill store, but a real used vinyl store) and see what they offer, without taking them up on it. Most good resellers separate out the "good" stuff from the cheap stuff when they are looking at your stash, and you can see then which records may be worth investigating selling on your own. After you've done that, then sell the cheap ones as a lot and sell the $$$ ones as you see fit.
