my physical therapist's remark

the other day, he showed me an abdomen exercise and he was timing it as I did it. He said, "this is boring. Are you bored?" And I said no. And he said he was bored. He said other things I won't mention.

Should I have said that he should be glad he has a JOB?

    My remark would've been...

"Hey, sorry you're bored, but this is your job ass-wipe. If you're "bored" maybe you should find another profession. Until then, stop bitching and be happy you are working, a job isn't the easiest to come by right now."

And secondly, what a rude thing to say to a client...it seems as if he was disappointed that you workign out wasn't exciting enough for him. What a dick.

Sorry for my rant, but I just think what he said was rude on a couple levels.

are you paying for it or is insurance?? and i think he has the right to say 'im bored.' he was probably just trying to make small talk. then you say 'you think this boring...(then you explain why your job sucks)'

people are just to uptight these days. was he suppose to treat you like royalty??? get over yourself. hes a person youre a person, thats how people talk.

Wow! People in many professions think various things, many of them off-colored jokes, but NEVER should they blurt them out to their client. Very unprofessional, uncaring, don't care about their job, etc. I wouldn't trust this person. Think about what they not even bother doing, like tests you may need, 'cuz, he finds, them "boring".
I worked with clients in the mental health field. There were lots of things I found useless and boring, among other things, but I am not the doc and if its ordered, its ordered,. The doc knows more than me. And when I administered whatever it was, I at least gave off a positive attitude. Its not fun having procedures done to begin with.
Its not easy, expespecially if you are not an extrovert, but you should ask for another person to do wahtever it was. If there is no one else, see another doc.
Remember, you are paying. Its your money. You wouldn't buy sub-okay products. Its the same with this type of care.
WE PAY THEM. OUR QUESTIONS SHOULD BE ANSWERED. AND RESPECTED AT ALL TIMES. IF NOT, THERE IS A STORE DOWN THE STREET.

you are not ranting. i appreciate thoughts from people here.

he said "i'm bored watching you"...he has said other stuff that "rubbed me wrong" but i'm not telling you all. i have two more sessions b4 i'm re-evaluated by another therapist. I was allowed 4.

i pay a $20 co payment and yes it is through my insurance.

as for talking to him as somebody mentioned, i can't when i'm sucking my stomach in (strengthening my abs).
i told him that i'm seeing an orthopedic surgeon in a few weeks (for my lower back, the reason i'm in therapy.)

Yesterday, when my session was over, i was in another room with a PT assistant and she was switching my next appointment to another day....he came in there like a mean father and said, "WHAT are you doing?" and I said I was changing it to next tuesday and he walked away....i asked the lady if he has a dry sense of humor and she said she did not know. I felt like telling her he needs an ice pack for his ass b/c he's in pain from a stretch that he showed me that did not bother me at all and it hurt him!!!!

like he wanted a peep show or something?

he does seem a little arrogant but he's helping me! that's important.

I would have said the same thing, except I would have called him "poopy-head" because it cuts deeper.

Thread starter, you have to tell us the other things he said! You can't start a thread, get me to click on it, and then leave us hanging!

you make very good points. i'm not reporting him for his other remarks b/c i would hate to see someone lose their job.

after i see the surgeon later this month, if he suggests more PT, i could go to another facility for my PT.
