Now on to a more important question. Anyone know the city really well? A friend of mine are going to the show and will be down there from wednesday through sunday. how are the hotels set up? The reason I'm asking is because we are towing a boat down with us, and are fishing these days. Need a spot to park the boat for the night. If it's all parking garages we are probably going to have a issue, and will need to look outside of town. Any suggestions?

All Those Yesterdays...I live here. How big is the boat? Is it just a regular john boat? Most all of the hotels downtown have parking garages so you probably wouldn't want to stay there. There is a hotel right next to LP Field (Titans stadium across the river from downtown and the Ryman) that has plenty of parking and you could probably park your truck and trailer in the LP field parking lot. I can not remember the name of the hotel right at this second, but I'll look for it and let you know.
I'd call just to make sure, but at that time of the year, there's nothing going on at the stadium and you should have room to park the boat. Good luck though and let me know if you got any questions. Nashville's a great city and I'm pumped about the show
I sent 10C an email a few hours before the confirmation emails were sent out asking to cancel my order. Didn't hear back, and then got the confirmation, so I just assumed my cancellation request was sent too late.
Well.. just now (at 7:47pm) received a response back saying my order had been canceled. I really screwed the pooch on this and I apologize for getting the hopes up of anyone in this thread. I would have gladly transferred over the order if I could have. Sorry guys :(.
EDIT: DBev, I am really, really sorry. I didn't mention my cancellation request email earlier in this thread because I figured it was denied, or got lost in the shuffle. Once I received confirmation, as I said, I just figured I had won the tickets. I feel awful for getting your hopes up, especially hearing about your situation. I'm truly sorry, and I hope you get to go somehow.
I'm glad you sent 10c an email... it's better if we followed the 10c policy in respect to their allocated tickets.
Otherwise, it can get ugly and you do not want to get in trouble.
I am certain someone else tomorrow will be super excited for being selected!
You didn't screw up - you did the right thing!

Got it for $124/night (gov't rate), regular rate is $160 I think, but this is within a block of the Ryman. Now just looking for a proper place to start the evening. A buddy of mine suggested Club Nashville(?) and Tootsies as a couple decent places. Plenty of time to figure it out.

You are a genius! That's right... I did not think of doing that - reserving the hotel and then cancel it if the tickets didn't work out.
I'll have to keep that in mind next time! Brilliant!
That hotel looks very comfortable and I love the idea of it being only one block away!

I live right near downtown, there are a ton of bars and places to eat within a block of the Ryman. Broadway is where everything will be and it's a 1 block walk to the show. Hopefully I'll get lucky Saturday...Enjoy

Sounds like a plan, gonna have to check it out and see what all is there. Already found this joint:

Do not stay at this hotel. Any motel/ hotel on the stadium side of the river is going be extremely sketchy. Probably the only spot in the immediate downtown area that would let you park the boat is Union Station. The next closest place would be some of the hotels on West End near Vanderbilt. It would be a really cheap cab from that part of town. I know this becasue I lived there most of my adult life, and I was a manager at Union Station.

Yeah, it's not the best, but I've known some people who have stayed there when in town and never had a problem. I was also going to suggest maybe the Union Station and some on down West End. There's also a good hotel in Green Hills (which is a nice neighborhood) that you might could do and it's not but 10 minutes from downtown (25 if there's a lot of traffic. lol)
I wouldn't recommend staying in green hills.. it is 20+ min from the Ryman. I live there and it is great but plenty of places to stay close by. The Renissance sp? is right next door and is a nicer hotel.. Plenty of other hotels within walking distance.. If anyone has questions please ask. Wouldn't stay on the other side of the river. Just doesn't make sense. Nash is a great walking city so stay close by.

have fun in nashville!! it's a great city! wish we could have made it for this show, but we decided to pay for acl & save for the full band. if anyone wants to grab me a sticker or a poster, i'd be more than happy to pay for your trouble!

I've seen at least 20 shows at the Ryman, including the Wilco show previously mentioned, the Ben Folds show previously mentioned, and the (in)famous Ryan (don't call me Bryan) Adams show. I've had seats everywhere from the third row to the very last row.
The "bad" seats are the seats on the back of the floor because the sound isn't as great because of the balcony above. I've never had the experience of obstructed view (and I don't think it's a big deal) as the poles are very thin. Of the two price levels, $55 and $75 dollars, the cheaper seats are the back of the floor. The more expensive seats are the front of the floor and the balcony. Seats in the balcony are great, and my preference would honestly be the front row of the balcony, if front row isn't given out.
This is a long way of saying that the lottery tickets will be the better seats based on the price.
The Ryman is an awesome venue. I've been to a ton of shows here, all with great sound. I agree with the previous posts that the best seats are either front floor or front balcony.
Just a note, the Ryman is very strict about cameras. I've almost had mine yanked a couple times even though I wasn't using the flash. Basically you get one warning. Camera phones are okay though.

I'd be down for some boozin too. Its been about 3 years since I've been out in Nashville, but I remeber kind of a cool dive bar being right across the street from BB Kings (I think), on a side street off Broadway. Sound familiar to anyone?

I got 2 tickets through the TM website!! Had to buy singles, but the wife and I are close by in the Balcony - Section 16 - Row A (1) and Row C (3). Tried to buy a pair right when they went on sale, but they were gone ... but luckily singles were still available. They had singles available for about 15 minutes before they appeared to sell out. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
I'll be easy to spot at the concert - just look for a big 6'8 guy!

I would say slim but there will be 10c members going solo at the show. I may be one of them looking to sell my extra.
I saw the Smashing Pumpkins from first row balcony last year.....freakin awesome!
