Why I think the Ticket policy sucks

I work far from home and far from a computer, and I think it sucks when on sales happen while I am at work, but thats life...Shame on me for not getting a job at or near a computer...with that said, I think first come, first serve is the most fair means to disperse tickets...The reason many people did not get tickets last time around was that the venues held 2,000 not 20,000...10% capacity equals 10% availability of fan club seats...EASY. But the cry babies win, except this time around what we will see is a MUCH higher scalping price due to this method of distributing 10C seating. It sucks, and I guarantee it will cost an arm and a leg to get a ticket to see Ed this time around, unlike the near face price tickets were going for for the East Coast leg 2008...I actually got cheaper seats for a show than what I paid for 10C tickets for that tour...Oh well...

But do you really think first come/first served works better when demand is this high, and the website is so terrible? I just posted this in another thread, but this is what my April fools solo tour ticket buying experience was like.
10:30: Come home from work for an early lunch break.
10:55:Log in, go to Goods section and start hitting refresh every few seconds
11: Tickets go up, get a pair in my cart.
11:00 and 20 seconds: Site crashes.
11-12: keep hitting refresh, waiting for the website to come back up.
credit card gets charged several thousand dollars.
12:00: Site comes back up. I'm logged out, my cart is empty.
12:01: I get logged back in, site crashes again.
12-2ish: Keep hitting refresh. A few people on the message board say the site is back up and they got ticket. I was never able to get a full page loaded.
shortly after 2: Site comes back up, sold out. Back to work I go.
Which would you rather have?
Either way, it is what it is. We all want our shot. You do what you can do and the rest isn't up to you.
if you don't score them from Ticketmaster, it means you didn't get tickets to the show from Ticketmaster.
It's all a matter of choice, no "must". No one's going to force you to give up your money, if it's not worth it, it's not worth it.
Here's another option, go to one show, and enjoy the one show you go to.
The problem there was all EV shows went up at once which is crazy. If they do what they've done since which is putting a show up every few hours its a lot smoother.
Then take that and give each member one pair to purchase... its going to open it up for a lot more people PLUS you'll know right away if you've got tickets or not.
I think this new system over-reaches the intention. If you want to do a lottery, let members try for more than one show. If you want to limit to one show per member, just put them up for sale. Either one works...
They actually allow you the opportunity to get 2 pairs of tickets if you choose one of the "roll over" shows.
I think for the upcoming Pearl Jam tour they should allow each member the opportunity to buy maybe 3 shows plus a roll over show. There are more seats available at PJ shows and hopefully a lot more dates which gives us fan club members a good chance to land tickets.
and we are all very thankful that you are not the policy maker regarding 10c tickets
There were only two shows on the last tour that were hard to get tickets to- both MSG. I don't have a fast computer by any means and I had no problems in 2006 or 2008. I think the new policy is great for small shows, I thought it was great for the Borgata shows in 2005. I wish they had done it for the Vic show in 2007. I would have liked it for last years Ed Shows, and I got shut out of one and got one for DC.
Good call. YOU should get to go to multiple shows and take away tickets from other fan club members. Becos THAT will really stick it to the scalpers... twice as many fans left without tickets while the same "superfans" are at every show.
