i mentioned in an earlier thread (that was deleted) how i sat near bill o'reilly and saw him at the after party.

i was amused as well as some of you that such a righty would be in attendance of this show.

apparently moby got a kick out of it too..funny lil article i came across..

VERY interesting....I kept hearing that O'Reilly was there and it seemed baffling. I mean I have watched his show to try to understand where the guy is coming from and he is about as RIGHT as it gets. I wonder if Ed and the others talked to him back stage. I could see Harper talking some shit. For some reason I see Ed just kind of steering clear and not bringing anything up to him (even though Ed is so passionate about his views). Interesting, thanks for sharing.

Although 13 years old, I think Millhouse's words hold as true today as they did in the mid-ninetys.

Bill O'Reilly was probably there for Paul McCartney. He is an entertainer who has an on-stage personea. Most pundits have a hook to catch listeners and/or viewers. It is more entertaining to watch people argue, than to watch people debate. Ever wonder why pundits are on the extreme ends of the spectrum and not closer towards the center? Ratings... book sales... movie turnstile. That's why Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Michael Moore, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh say some of the things they say... to stir up controversy... get their names out there... so you'll watch their show... listen to their radio broadcast... buy their books... go to their movies.
The joke is no the people who actually take any of them seriously... not them, themselves.

You know what I don't find funny. I dont find it funny that people expect people with differing views not to be respective and attentive to the opposing point of view. Why are people shocked that Davd Lynch and Bill O'Reilly would actually talk to each other? Why not?

I still can't quite wrap my head around it. Is Bill-O going soft? Did anyone see him on Letterman last week? There was no real fighting. Even when Dave picked on him a bit, it was all really civil. Is this concession? He's still batshit, no doubt, but perhaps he's retreating back into his own world for a bit? At least, when he's beyond the confines of his own program...

As I have stated... on-stage personea. Sort of like how Vince Furnier is a relatively Conservative golfer who turns into Alice Cooper on-stage and sings about Dead Babies and got banned by Churches in the 70s. Some boring duffer doesn't sell out arenas.. but, a drunken guy in eye make-up that chops off his head does.
If the roles were reversed... David Letterman on O'Rielly's show... it would have been different. He would have been prepared because he would have been the one asking the questions.
    ...
    THAT'S SHOW-BIZ!!!
