Has Ed or the band commented on the "backmasking" of Pry, to

Supposedly its Pete Townshend saved my life backwards and PRIVACY thats priceless to me forwards.


While the Pete Townshend sentiment is something ed truly believes and has publicly said many times, do you really think they would have spent so much time creating something so palindrome like? Not only does it make sense normally, but backwards it makes sense.

Whats the consensus on this?

    In a 2000 interview chat Ed was asked this question and he responded with a smile and a no comment or something like that.
    I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.

    I wouldn't totally believe that Rumor Pit answer. It could be one of those things that Ed did that he didn't want to be officially recognized, but if you really are a huge fan you know about it ect. It's kind of like a little thing that the huge fans know about so it's a little special.

    I personally think it was put there on purpose. We know now that Pete said around 93 or 94 he really talked Ed into staying in the band and possibly gave him some other good advice. I think it's also why the song name is Pry, To when those 2 words seem a bit meaningless or put in that order in order to just fit the other meaning it has. PT= Pete Townsend. Pry, To putting the words in the reverse order = To Pry which is what the song is about, Privacy. So, I think that because even the song name is a bit backwards and are Pete's initials it's one reason why I think it's real.

    Also, I've heard Pry, To backwards and it does sound like he is saying "Pete Townsend , oh how you saved my life". I think he might have gotten the idea for Led Zeppelin or the Beatles who have done similar things before- especially since Vitalogy is such a tribute to vinyl and vinyl makes it so much easier to listen to songs backwards. He might have even had the idea first and then wrote a song that would specifically sound like what he wanted backwards.

    I don't know myself, but I can say I'm happy to see anything associating Pete and PJ, my two favs in the whole world :D
