As the city prepared for a massive public funeral for four police officers slain in the line of duty, dozens took to the streets in a show of support for the man authorities say was their killer.
Organized by the International People's Democratic Movement, the march took place 3/25/09 and they marched near a police substation within sight of the two locations where Lovell Mixon allegedly shot the 4 veteran officers before being slain himself.
Loved ones and supporters walked through the streets chanting "OPD YOU CAN'T HIDE WE CHARGE YOU WITH GENOCIDE"! Mixon's cuz D. Darnell,26 addressed the small crowd calling him a true hero  :x :x
"This is the real Lovell,"she said holding a picture of a him smiling with his wife."we do apologize for what he did to the officers families. But he's not a monster. :?
Authorities say a day before the shooting the 26 -year old fugitive parolee was linked to DNA to the february rape of a 12 year old girl who was dragged of the street at gun point by Mixon :( :(
Police said "officers Dunakin and Hege were gunned down Saturday when the two pulled him over. In a manhunt that followed, Romans and Sakai died when the city's swat team stormed an apartment where Mixon was hiding. Mixon also died in the Gunfire.
Now we have 4 widows and 10 kids without fathers and this guy is called a hero by a few dozen in the black community in Oakland. :x
I realize that there is police brutality in the black communities, but this guy was a real scumbag, and IMO he deserves what he got. Raping a 12 yr old, killing 4 police officser not to mention he was on parole for god knows what and these protesters are doing nothing but hurting their cause when they do stuff like this.

I have never EVER heard a police officer apologize for their behavior. I have never heard a single one, except for Serpico call out their fellow officers for corruption or racism.
Even in the most outrageous and sickening examples of police behavior the officers never apologize, and their supporters and coworkers do nothing. The shooting of an unarmed blackman, and the ridiculous lie of a claim, "his wallet looked like a gun". The officers never apologized. The raping of a black man with a broom? No apologies, no dissention in the ranks.
The shooting of that black man outside a strip club? No apologies.
Not to mention Mumia.
When police stop killing and brutalizing others, maybe then I can sympathize with them. But until then, I have no respect for them.
Way to generalize and stereotype. Wow.
I agree there have been some cases where cops were way out of line and they totally abuse their power but for the most part I bleive that most of them are good people and are here to serve and protect. but are you going to sit there and tell me if you ever needed their help you would turn it down. What if your house was broken into or your car was stolen or even worse youor someone close to you was a victim of a violent crime then what ? Are you going to tell them Hey I really don't have any respect for you but will you help me ?
Wow....I can't believe there are individuals who are so close minded and stereotypical
Maybe you should live in the shoes of an Officer before you start making blanket statements
I don't know where you live but I've seen plenty of apologies on the News..doesn't make it right when there is misconduct but I have seen cops lose jobs and apologise and resign
So for a few bad cops you lose respect for all of them ? I know there are renegade cops in every town and its wrong but to say you don't respect cops is kind of sad
What are the facts in the Mumia case ? Do you have all the evidence and court documents and witness accounts and testimony ?

Hmmmm.
There are deranged people out there who will protest anything and everything (see Westboro Baptist Church). Protest like this shouldn't be covered by the media, bloggers or anyone. Giving people like this five seconds of attention is 5 seconds too much.

the facts in the Mumia case?
How about the fact that Mumia was an outspoken critic of police brutality in the Philly PD?
or the fact that no one actually saw Mumia shoot the cop?
the fact that it took the cops 30 minutes to get mumia to a hospital, where he showed up badly beaten with a bullet in him.
or the fact that the trial was presided over by a judge who handed out more death sentences than any previous judge?
Or the fact the very biased judge didn't even allow Mumia to be present at most of his trial-or to represent himself?
Here's a HUGE FACT THAT WAS NEVER TOLD TO THE JURY. Mumia carried a .38 caliber handgun (legal) but the coroner pulled a .44 caliber bullet out of the cops head. But the evidence wasn't allowed in court, was never even told to the jury.
Also police at the scene never tested Mumia's gun to see if it had been fired-which is either a sign of gross incompetence or a sign of systematic abuse. either way the Philly PD in no way did their jobs that night.
The incompetent/corrupt philly PD said Mumia confessed in the hospital. well, why did they wait 2 months to produce the confession? and why was it conveniently produced right after Mumia filed police brutality charges?
the star witness for the prosecution was Cynthia White. at Mumia's brother's triam she said another person was at the scene and fled. but for some reason at Mumia's trial she never mentions a third person at the scene. what's interesting also is that none of the other witnesses ever saw Cynthia white anywhere near the scene that night.
So, police brutality. police incompetence. witness tampering. illegal judicial procedures. but they found enough evidence to sentence him to death?
here's the nail in the coffin. in 2001, a court stenogrpaher-the typist came forward when they OVERHEARD THE PRESIDING JUDGE SAY, "I"M GONNA HELP THEM FRY THAT NIGGER".
Those are the facts of the case.
You have never heard a police officer apologize for their behavior? The cop involved with the NFL running back in Texas apologized and resigned from the force. Not sure where you were for that. So if some nut job breaks in to your house or casues your family harm you will call no one? I know several cops and most of the police out there are good people, who have a tough job with all of these fucking psychos always spouting off about their rights and half the fuckers can't even speak english or a form of english that is discernable.
I think some people have such paranoia of authority, that they will always blame the system. Usually the ones who complain about the cops/government/military/"big brother" out to get them have never been in their position nor know absolutely anything about it. Its just ignorance, they are scared because they don’t know any better, they also are in denial that other people out there want to hurt them. You can't make these "open minded" people open minded that there are other sides to the story.
it could be you. or me. could be anyone.
I don't know where you get your facts, but not ALL police officers are killing, brutalizing animals.
and comparing to a movie character...well, all I can say is that I wouldn't expect people to reflect that...this is reality, not a movie.
I'm not saying that there are piece of shit police officers out there, because there DEFINITELY is...but there are certainly honorable ones, too. There was a local cop here in SLC that is claimed to be our local "Serpico" because he took a career dive only to uncovere corruption in the SLC Police Dept.
There is scum and trash on both sides of the fence bro, it's the world we live in. Try to see that cops that do that are indeed douchebags who have no business protecting and serving....don't bring police officers down as a whole...without them, all of our lives would be significantly more fucked up.

I agree not ALL cops are pieces of dung chips. I treat them with respect and in turn they've been respectful to me even let me go without a ticket. I even had one officer say if it wasn't for my demeanor he would've given me a ticket.
Peace

Yeah because the crimanals they deal with every day would never dream of killing and brutalizing others

Can we have your address so we can notify the cops in your town that you don't respect them? That way when somebody comes to rape your 12 year year old child they won't bother responding because you don't respect the work they do.
Join reality pal...I sure hope you're a 15 year old kid because that is the most ridiculous nonsense I've seen in a long time around here.
Sure there are bad cops, but there is also a lot of hard working cops. It's a thankless job that they don't get enough credit for.

Do you know any cops? Like personally? Because I know 3. Sure there are some idiot policemen out there just like there are idiots in any profession. In my opinion anyone who categorically denounces law enforcement probably has something to hide.
