I can understand the Officer's initial reaction... a vehicle that fails to yield... you never know who you are dealing with.
BUT... once the explanation was given... better judgement would dictate that he call for assistance and follow them into the hospital to verify with the medical staff if their claim was valid. That's all it would have taken... an escort into the building and he would have gotten the truth.
I am glad he has resigned. I don't think anyone with that poor of judgement skills should be issued a gun and a badge.

yeah. but a nurse came out and validated his story. and another cop checked it out and tried to intervene. the cop didn't care. was more worried about establishing his authority. "I can make your night very difficult" type of language. he never bothered to check the story.
seems like this is typical. they are supposed to serve and protect, but in my experience cops like that are in the minority. i've met a few , but mostly they are arrogant pigfuckers. the kid that got picked on highschool getting his revenge.
i don't know if its the training or experience or what, but its definitely something. i don't think this case is the exception, more the rule.
and of course the victim was black. i don' think that's a coincidence.

I agree. He should resign his position because he (the cop) made all of those poor decisions... and i don't think a person with that poor of decision making skills belongs in a position of authority.
When the nurse confirmed the situation, he should have gone in and verified their story. Once he saw that what they were saying was true... he could have still written up the traffic violation (and been a dick)... OR he could have exercised some humanity and wished them sympathy and returned to his patrol car.
He didn't and I'm glad he is no longer a cop.
